The Deer Hollow Fire was reported to our dispatch center at 1:11 pm this afternoon. The fire is located south of Darby and was ignited on private lands. Darby Rural Fire Department responded along with mutual aid resources from US Forest Service and Sula, Hamilton, Corvallis, Victor, Pinesdale, and Stevensville Rural Fire Districts. Air Attack, helicopters and large air tankers have also been ordered to this fire. The fire is currently estimated at 50 acres and is threatening structures in the Rye Creek area. Despite the recent rains, fine fuels in the valley floor have dried out quickly and will easily ignite. We want to remind our residents and visitors to exercise caution and good judgment in their Independence Day plans this year. Discover Bitterroot National Forest Ravalli County Sheriff's Office
