Artist Peter Erskine has been making waves throughout Southern Oregon.

A few moments from this week’s incredible library openings for the 100 Libraries: Healing Rainbow Light for Oregonians project.

With 32 of 100 libraries now complete, each installation brings site-specific solar art, light, and wonder into its own unique library space.

Deep gratitude to all the Southern Oregon librarians who have welcomed this project with such generosity, care, and support. Your collaboration makes this journey possible.

THE RAINBOW CARAVAN: SEVEN JACKSON COUNTY INSTALLATIONS THIS WEEK

This week, we continue the journey of 100 Libraries - Healing Rainbow Light for Oregonians, artist Peter Erskine’s ongoing Solar Spectrum Art project bringing permanent, site-specific light installations into public libraries across Oregon.

Join us as we travel through Jackson County, celebrating seven installations and the communities that are making space for this work.

These works transform ordinary architectural spaces through sunlight, prisms and mirrors, creating shifting fields of spectral color that change with the movement of the sun.

There will be music, conversation, rainbow games, demonstrations of the science and art behind the installations, and an opportunity to meet Peter and experience the work in person.

And then the caravan continues.

TWO LIBRARIES. ONE DAY. FOLLOW THE RAINBOW.

Today, Tuesday, August 11, the 100 Libraries Rainbow Caravan is heading to Mount Angel and Dallas.

Join us for one opening, or jump in the caravan and come to both.

Mount Angel Public Library at 11 AM

Dallas Public Library from 4–5 PM

Come experience Peter Erskine’s solar-spectrum art as sunlight moves through prisms and fills the libraries with rainbows.

On our way to the second opening of the day!

Despite the smoke, the opening must go on.

We look forward to gathering together indoors with air filters in place so everyone can celebrate with safety and peace of mind.

This week we celebrate two new installations in Peter Erskine’s 100 Libraries Project, a statewide public art initiative bringing site-specific solar spectrum installations to 100 public libraries across Oregon.

Each installation is designed specifically for its library, responding to the architecture and the path of the sun. As the light changes throughout the day and across the seasons, so does the work itself.

These installations are Peter Erskine’s gift to the people of Oregon. More celebrations are coming soon, including Pacific City, with additional libraries across the state nearing completion.

We are also grateful that the project has recently been featured by FOX and NBC as the journey continues.
