Today is the Day!

A transformational investment in public transportation is officially underway across Clark and Floyd counties!

The Community Foundation of Southern Indiana (CFSI) is launching a historic $2.45 million initiative to expand affordable transportation options and help remove barriers to employment, healthcare, education, and everyday needs. Developed in partnership with Blue River Services and the Southern Indiana Transit System (SITS), the new two-year program begins today, October 14, bringing expanded low-cost transportation through a combination of on-demand service and deviated routes throughout both counties.

Demand Response is currently available with deviated routes to rollout shortly! For updates on deviated routes and information on how to ride, please visit www.brsinc.org/transportation.

This investment, one of the largest grants in CFSI's 35-year history, is made possible through Lilly Endowment Inc.'s Giving Indiana Funds for Tomorrow (GIFT IX) initiative.

Together, we're creating more opportunities for residents to connect with work, services, and community resources.

Blue River is extremely grateful to CFSI, through the Lilly Endowment Inc., and their continued efforts to provide the citizens of Southern Indiana, specifically in Clark and Floyd counties, with affordable and accessible transportation.

🦆🚨 THE DUCKING WAR HAS BEGUN! 🚨🦆

McGrain has officially kicked off the fun by making their first stop at Summit View! With more than 100 little ducks, 6 cherry ducks, and one GIANT 4-foot duck in the mix, we think things are about to get WILD! 😂🦆

All seven of our residential homes will be joining in on the fun, so the big question is… WHO WILL BE DUCKED NEXT?! 👀

Recently our Summit View home decided it was time to blow the diet! So, they headed out to try a locally owned business, Abruzzo.

The cheesecake selection made for a tough decision, but everyone finally picked their favorites. The owners were so sweet and patient with the group, and when everyone got home, the verdict was unanimous—a 10 out of 10! 🍰

In fact, everyone agreed they’d love to go back and try a piece of every cheesecake! The owner even invited us back for dinner and said they would make sure we had a space to enjoy their Italian food.

If the dessert was this good, we can only imagine how delicious dinner will be! We’re already looking forward to our next outing and another opportunity to support a local business.

One of the many activities of our habilitation program is cooking. Our Salem crew chose to make spaghetti and garlic bread. When preparing the meat sauce, they used turkey instead of hamburger opting for a healthier choice. It looks yummy!!
