Minnesota author and Cosmos native Marcy Krosch McKay will hold a book event at the Cosmos Library on Saturday, October 24! This child-oriented program will be held at 10:30 a.m. in the community room adjoining the library. Open to all ages. Free to attend! No need to sign up.
Marcy will read her book There Once Was a Froggie, with music and without. She'll have other music, bubbles, and coloring sheets for the kids. She will also have copies of her books available to sell with an accompanying frog stuffed animal, and she will be available to sign books.
From Little Miss Universe to Children’s Author: Cosmos Native Turns a 40-Year-Old Lullaby into a Picture Book
In 1967, Marcy Krosch was named Little Miss Universe in her hometown of Cosmos. Today, the Cosmos High School Class of 1980 graduate has added a new title: children’s book author.
Writing as Marcy McKay, Krosch has released There Once Was A Froggie, a rhyming picture book based on a lullaby she made up and sang to her four children more than 40 years ago. The book follows a quirky little frog who finds friendship and adventure by meeting the world with curiosity, and it is the first in a planned three-book series.
“Froggie started as a lullaby at bedtime,” Krosch said. “I never imagined it would become a book I could share with a whole new generation of children.”
Told in playful, singable verse with vibrant illustrations, the story celebrates kindness, acceptance and trying new things. Copies ordered through Krosch’s website come with a Froggie keepsake, the original song and a bookmark, so families can sing along as they read.
“I hope Froggie becomes one of those books parents and kids read over and over,” she said, “because every reading becomes another shared memory.”
Rooted in Cosmos
Krosch grew up on a family farm near Cosmos, where hard work, community and friendship shaped who she is. Those roots carry into the series: the second book, There Once Was A Froggie Who Went to the Farm, is planned for December 2026 and draws on her own childhood on the farm.
