Curious about what your Police Officers have been up to this past week? Here’s a quick recap:

- Friday, we had a blast handing out candy at the Chamber of Commerce Halloween Down Main Street event! Thank you to everyone who stopped by to chat with us. Even behind the dispatch console, our team dressed up for the occasion. We hope you had a safe and fun Halloween evening.

- Monday morning there was a power pole fire with fallen wires that left the area of Gateway Blvd and Harvey Road without power for an extended period. Officers and fire crews were on scene directing traffic and ensuring the fire didn’t spread into the brush further until the power company could arrive and shut off power to the pole.

- A male subject violated a valid restraining order when he entered the property and rang the home's doorbell. The male was contacted by officers while he attempted to leave the area. He was taken into custody and was transported to the Lane County Jail for the violation of his restraining order.

- Officers responded to McDonald’s for a crash in the drive through where a vehicle was high centered on a curb. The driver was found to have been driving while uninsured and with his license suspended. He was issued citations for Careless Driving Resulting in an Accident (ORS 811.135), Driving While Suspended (ORS 811.175), and Driving Uninsured (ORS 806.010). The driver contacted a family member to take possession of the vehicle.

- A female was found camping at Trail Head Park. Because she was in possession of a shopping cart, she was issued a citation in lieu of custody for Theft in the Second Degree as well as Illegal Camping. She was issued a park exclusion and was advised she needed to pick up her belongings and move along.

- During a routine patrol check of the designated camp at 12th Street, officers contacted a male subject who had an outstanding warrant from the Lane County Circuit Court stemming from a case involving Possession of Methamphetamine. He was transported to the Lane County Jail to be lodged on the warrant.

- Officers were traveling through the area of Taco Bell for an unrelated call when they observed a heavily intoxicated individual running along a bike path, falling face-first onto the pavement, and subsequently wandering into the roadway. The individual was bleeding from facial injuries, prompting officers to stop and request medical assistance. Further investigation revealed the individual had outstanding warrants for Assault IV and Harassment. He was taken into custody, and a subsequent search revealed alcohol and ma*****na in their possession. The minor was issued Citations in Lieu of Custody for Minor in Possession of Alcohol (ORS 471.430) and Minor in Possession of Ma*****na (ORS 475c.341). Due to the individual's level of intoxication and facial injuries, he was transported to the hospital for medical clearance before being transported to the Lane County Jail to be lodged on his warrants.

- Two victims were transported by South Lane Fire and Rescue to be evaluated further at the hospital. A male subject was arrested and transported to the Lane County Jail to be lodged on charges of two counts of Assault in the Fourth Degree (ORS 163.160) and Disorderly Conduct in the Second Degree (ORS 166.025).

Curious about what your Police Officers have been up to this week? Here’s a quick recap:

- Officers responded to a report of a vehicle break-in in progress. Upon arrival, they observed a juvenile exiting the vehicle through a shattered rear window and attempting to flee. The juvenile began to run from the officers, who chased the juvenile on foot and successfully apprehended them. Further investigation revealed the vehicle’s steering column had been damaged, and the ignition had been tampered with using a screwdriver. The juvenile was arrested and charged with Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle (ORS 164.135), Unlawful Entry into a Motor Vehicle (ORS 164.272), Criminal Mischief in the Second Degree (ORS 164.354), Resisting Arrest (ORS 162.315), and Escape in the Second Degree (ORS 162.155). The juvenile was transported to the Lane County Detention Center to be lodged on the charges listed above.

- During a patrol check behind a local business, an individual was contacted for trespassing. The individual was found to have valid warrants from the Eugene Police Department and the Springfield Police Department. He was taken into custody and transported to the Lane County Jail to be lodged.

- Officers responded to the Post Office regarding a male subject sleeping inside the building after hours. The male was awakened by officers and advised that he needed to pack up and leave.

- In the early morning hours, officers found a vehicle parked behind Grocery Outlet, which the property prohibits trespassing after business hours and has multiple posted signs. The two individuals associated with the vehicle were approached and it was determined the male subject had two active warrants for his arrest out of Douglas County Circuit Court. He was transported and lodged at the Lane County Jail.

- A male approached officers at the All-American Market. Dispatch determined that the male subject had a warrant for failure to appear on hit-and-run charges issued by our agency. He was advised that he was not free to leave and was issued a citation in lieu of custody for the warrant, along with a new court date.

- Dispatch advised officers that a female juvenile was driving a stolen ATV erratically, without a helmet, and failing to obey traffic controls. Officers were able to catch up to the juvenile on East Main Street and Gateway Blvd, and the juvenile continued to drive off despite looking back at the officers with their patrol car lights and sirens on. Officers were able to position their patrol vehicles to force her to stop. She was taken into custody and transported to the Lane County Juvenile Detention Center on charges of Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle (ORS 164.135), Elude by Vehicle (ORS 811.540), Reckless Driving (ORS 811.140), and Criminal Trespass in the Second Degree (ORS d164.245).

Curious about what your Police Officers have been up to this week? Here’s a quick recap:

- We enjoyed providing a police es**rt from CGHS to Main Street for the annual homecoming parade and festivities. We hope all students had a fun and safe homecoming weekend. Chief Chase and officers also attended the homecoming football game Friday evening against Sweet Home.

- A report of a male attempting to open apartment doors led to a search of the surrounding area. With assistance from residents who provided a description of the individual, a matching subject was located nearby. The subject admitted to attempting to open multiple doors to gain entry but could not explain why. He was arrested and transported to the Lane County Jail without further incident and lodged on charges of Attempted Burglary in the Second Degree (ORS 164.215) and Disorderly Conduct in the Second Degree (ORS 166.025).

- Officers responded to a two-vehicle crash at Mosby Creek Road and East Main Street involving significant vehicle damage and reported injuries. The investigation determined that one driver was traveling above the posted speed limit when they became distracted by their cellphone and vehicle radio. The vehicle veered onto the sidewalk and off the roadway before striking a second vehicle near Forest Valley Veterinary Clinic. The second vehicle's driver was not present at the time of impact, but a passenger sustained minor injuries. Both vehicles sustained extensive damage, and a nearby speed limit sign was knocked over during the collision. Officers found no indicators of impairment and determined that distracted driving and excessive speed were the primary contributing factors. The driver was cited for Careless Driving (Contributing to a Motor Vehicle Accident) (ORS 811.135) and Operating a Motor Vehicle While Using a Mobile Electronic Device (ORS 811.507).

- A verbal dispute was reported at Bohemia Park. The involved parties were separated, and during the investigation, officers discovered that one individual was noncompliant with s*x offender registration requirements. The individual was arrested for Failure to Report as a S*x Offender (Felony) (ORS 163A.040) and transported to the Lane County Jail without incident.

- A female subject was located regarding incidents that occurred at Walmart earlier in the week. She was issued Citations in Lieu of Custody for Criminal Trespass in the Second Degree (ORS 164.245), Disorderly Conduct in the Second Degree (ORS 166.025), and Criminal Mischief in the Third Degree (ORS 164.345). In addition to the charges listed above, she was found to have five outstanding warrants issued by our agency: one for Failure to Appear on a Theft in the Third-Degree charge and four for Failure to Appear on Criminal Trespass in the First-Degree charges.

- An officer responded to a report of a male subject rummaging through vehicles, taking multiple items that did not belong to him. The male subject was located in his apartment and taken into custody without incident. After he was in custody, additional calls were received reporting their vehicles were also ransacked overnight. A few of the items that were missing included two guns, a wallet, binoculars, and a rangefinder were all taken from several vehicles overnight. The stolen fi****ms and other stole property were recovered by the officers. The male subject was transported and lodged at the Lane County Jail on four counts of Unauthorized Entry into a Motor Vehicle (ORS 164.272), three counts of Theft in the First Degree (ORS 164.055), and two counts of Felon in Possession of a Fi***rm (ORS 166.270).

Curious about what your Police Officers have been up to this week? Here’s a quick recap:

- This past Monday morning, we made an appearance at the Faithful Partners Preschool for our annual visit. Captain Branstetter read “If You Give a Pig A Pancake” to the children and we gifted each student with their own copy to take home. Providing children with their own copy of the book is made possible through our partnership with Books & Badges The Starfish Assignment.

- Officers responded to reports of a motor-vehicle crash involving multiple parked vehicles. The driver of the involved vehicle was initially suspected of Driving Under the Influence due to the presence of alcoholic containers inside the vehicle. Standardized Field Sobriety Tests were completed, and it was determined that the driver did not exhibit sufficient indicators of impairment. At the end of the investigation, the driver was issued Uniform Traffic Citations for Careless Driving (Contributing to a Motor Vehicle Accident) (ORS 811.135), Violation of Open Container Law (ORS 811.170), and Operating a Vehicle Without Driving Privileges (ORS 807.010).

- During the above investigation, Dispatch advised officers that the involved driver was the suspect of an active attempt-to-locate request issued by an officer within our department. This was regarding an ongoing criminal investigation in which there was probable cause to arrest the male on charges of Assault in the Fourth Degree (ORS 163.160), Menacing (ORS 163.190), Criminal Mischief in the Second Degree (ORS 164.354), and Disorderly Conduct in the Second Degree (ORS 166.025). The male was transported and lodged at the Lane County Jail on the above-mentioned charges.

- Dispatch received a disturbance call and could hear yelling over the open phone line. Officers arrived and encountered a highly intoxicated and uncooperative female at the scene. The male victim fled the scene on foot before officers could speak with him. The female was ultimately detained and transported to the Lane County Jail, where she was lodged on charges of Disorderly Conduct in the Second Degree (ORS 166.025).

- When officers arrived at the designated camp at 12th Street to unlock the gate, they located a known male subject who had an active warrant for his arrest for Failure to Appear on a Possession of Methamphetamine charge. The male was contacted and taken into custody without incident. He was transported to the Lane County Jail to be lodged on his warrant.

- Officers responded to a motor vehicle accident where a female driver struck a parked car. When officers began their investigation, the female driver was showing signs of intoxication. She was transported to the police department to perform Standardized Field Sobriety Tests and provided a breath sample of 0.23% (almost three times the legal limit). She was issued Citations in Lieu of Custody for Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicants (ORS 813.010) and Reckless Driving (ORS 811.140). She was released into the custody of a family member.

Please note: This is a summary of select calls for service. Officers respond to many additional calls each day that are not included in this update.
