I enjoyed catching up with Cottleville’s inaugural first lady, Carol Kochanski, wife of the late Stephen Peter Kochanski, the city’s first mayor. Carol is a wealth of knowledge about Cottleville’s history; and she promised to take me around town in her golf cart next week!

šŸ—£ļø Did you know? Although Cottleville’s history stretches back more than 225 years, its first mayor took office in 1993. Before becoming a fourth-class city, Cottleville was governed by a Board of Trustees. Stephen Kochanski served as mayor from 1993 to 2001.

This Sunday, October 18, stop by Frankie Martin's Garden for an interfaith community event from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM and to learn about the diverse world religions and faith traditions across the St. Louis region. The event will feature music, food and activities.

Events like this remind us of the strength found in mutual respect and understanding. Every community deserves to gather, worship, and live free from fear, intimidation, and violence. In light of the recent reported threat targeting the Balaji Temple in Aurora, Illinois, I stand firmly with our Hindu neighbors and against religious bias and hatred of any kind.

šŸ•Šļø As Mayor of Cottleville, I believe every person should be able to practice their faith in peace. I encourage neighbors to attend this weekend's event, connect with one another and support a welcoming community for all.

⚔ Ameren’s proposed electric generation facility: Have your say in Cottleville

Ameren Missouri has asked the Missouri Public Service Commission for approval to build a 2,100-megawatt natural gasfired electic generation facility at its existing Sioux Energy Center in West Alton, St. Charles County.

Before the state decides, the PSC is holding public hearings—including one right here in Cottleville.

šŸ›ļø Cottleville Public Hearing
Wednesday, 6pm, November 18, 2026
St. Charles Community College
4601 Mid Rivers Mall Drive

The session will begin with information and questions, followed by public testimony to the Commission. You can also participate online the next evening, November 19, at 6:00 p.m., through WebEx.

If you plan to speak, register by 5:00 p.m. the day before at [email protected] or 1-800-392-4211. Written comments may be sent to the PSC, P.O. Box 360, Jefferson City, MO 65102, using case number EA-2026-0226.

This is an opportunity for St. Charles County residents to ask questions, share concerns and have their comments entered into the official record.

Happy 90th Birthday, Mr. Ron Lober!

Wishing a very special day to a man whose leadership and service have meant so much to so many; including me. Your years of public service to Moline Acres left a lasting mark on the community.

Thank you for being more than a former mayor; you’ve been a mentor, a source of wisdom and a (blunt :) ) friend. Your willingness to share your experience, ask the right question and care deeply about the people you served has shaped the way many of us approach public service.

May your 90th year be filled with good health and laughter. Have a wonderful birthday, Mayor Ron!

We had a wonderful time celebrating Arbor Day at Scott A. Lewis Park!

Thank you to everyone who joined us for the tree tour/planting, visited the info tables and took part in other activities. We also appreciate the representatives from St. Charles County Forestry/Agriculture, Missouri Department of Conservation, Wild Ones of St. Charles County, Purple Martin Native Landscape Consulting, St. Charles Community College and the Master Gardeners who shared their knowledge and time.

A special thank you to our volunteers, local businesses and Cottleville Parks & Recreation Advisory Committee members for helping make the celebration possible.

In February, 11-year-old Delia Nevatt from Warren Elementary stepped up to the microphone at City Hall with well-researched safety solutions for motorized mini bikes in Cottleville. Her thoughtful recommendations, helped shape official city policy.

Bill No. 26-047, known as "The Delia Nevatt Bill," will be introduced to the Board of Alderman at Oct 21 meeting. This ordinance amends Title III of our Municipal Code regarding the use of bicycles, electric bicycles, motorized bicycles, electric scooters and other alternative vehicles.

This is the first time a city bill in Cottleville has been named to honor a young resident. Thank you, Delia, for showing what active community leadership looks like.

PS: For details about draft Bill No. 26-047, please contact City Administrator, Mike Padella ([email protected], 636-498-6565 Dial 2). The bill’s final language will not be known until after the BOA work session and first reading (Oct 21), so please stay tuned.
