Over the weekend on World Mental Health Day, we were reminded of the importance of student well-being – and we’re proud to highlight our Green Hills AEA Mental Health Practitioner Team and the life-changing support they bring to Iowa students! 💚

Our team works inside 23 partner school districts and 3 Rising Hope Academies to provide in-school mental health care when students need it most.

Since 2019, our team has grown from 3 to 12 practitioners, helping remove insurance and transportation barriers so students facing anxiety, depression, or anger can focus on learning and thriving.

Partnering with districts to help every student succeed!

For Attendance Awareness Month, Green Hills AEA is proud to highlight our ongoing work with local districts like Harlan Community High School. Through hands-on collaboration, our Green Hills Attendance Consultant partners directly with school teams to build proactive, family-centered systems that help students show up and thrive.

Here is what happens when AEA consultants and district teams work together:
📈 Growth score on state performance profiles for previously chronically absent students jumped from 0.26 (2024) to 5.09 (2025).
📉 Chronic absenteeism at Harlan CHS dropped from 17.4% to 15.2%.
🏃 Stronger systems like "The Attendance Finish Line" and "Comeback Contracts" now give students clear, positive paths to stay on track.

During a recent panel discussion, Harlan seniors shared their top piece of advice with incoming freshmen: Just show up!
