Make a difference at your local Library in one of three ways. ๐Ÿ“š

There are a few ways to support the Foundation and help us continue investing in the Library and the community it serves:

๐Ÿ’› Make a one-time gift
Every contribution helps the Foundation support Library programs, equipment and special projects.

๐Ÿ”„ Make it recurring
A recurring gift provides ongoing support for the Foundationโ€™s work throughout the year.

๐ŸŒฑ Leave a legacy
You can also include a gift to the Library in your trust or will, creating an impact that extends well beyond today.

However you choose to give, your support helps the Foundation continue its mission to enhance and enrich the Libraryโ€™s facilities, services and programs for our community.

Twelve and a half million dollars because of YOU. ๐Ÿ’ฐ

Over the past 28 years, the Council Bluffs Public Library Foundation has raised more than $12.5 million in support of our Library and the community it serves.

That support helps the Library go beyond the expected.

It creates room for the special projects, innovative technology, enhanced spaces and unique programs that make the Council Bluffs Public Library an exceptional resource for our community.

Behind every one of those opportunities are donors, community partners and neighbors who believe our Library should continue growing, evolving and finding new ways to serve Council Bluffs.

$12.5 million has helped us do some pretty incredible things. Continued support helps make sure we can keep doing them.

Every contribution becomes part of whatโ€™s possible next.

Why does the Foundation support the library?

Because the Foundation helps make possible the things that go beyond traditional Library funding.

With support from donors, the Foundation provides funding for special projects, programs, equipment and improvements that enhance what the Library can offer our community.

Over the years, donor support has helped fund things like:

๐Ÿ“š Teen Central
๐Ÿ’ป MakerSpace equipment and upgrades
๐ŸŽค The Foundation Speaker Series
๐ŸŽจ The Youth Area Remodel
๐Ÿ–ฅ๏ธ New technology and equipment
๐ŸŽถ Author visits, concerts and special programming

Teen Central just got a major upgrade, and it's all thanks to community support. ๐Ÿ’™

Through the CB Public Library Foundation, Teen Central has brand new computers and furniture, giving teens a space that's more comfortable, more functional, and built for how they actually use it, whether that's gaming, studying, or just hanging out after school.

Come see it for yourself at the Teen Central Open House on Thursday, September 24, 5:00โ€“7:00pm. There will be refreshments, activities, and crafts, plus a chance to meet the Teen Central staff and check out everything the space has to offer.

Upgrades like this happen because of donors who believe teens deserve a great space of their own. If you'd like to help fund what's next for Teen Central, donations are always welcome at councilbluffslibrary.org/about/library-foundation.

See you there! ๐ŸŽ‰

Council Bluffs, you read. A lot. ๐Ÿ“šโ˜€๏ธ

This summer, 1,711 readers of all ages joined the Summer Reading Program at Council Bluffs Public Library, and overall participation grew 17% year over year, with an 80% completion rate among registered readers.

Across the summer:
๐ŸŽ‰ 184 programs held for kids, teens, and adults
๐Ÿ‘ฅ 5,669 total program attendees
๐ŸŽ Nearly 3,000 prizes and badges earned
๐Ÿ“– Thousands of books and tens of thousands of days spent reading, from board books to book clubs

Behind every one of those numbers is a kid discovering a new favorite series, a teen who finished a personal reading goal, or an adult who made time to read again. That's what this program is all about.

Thank you to every reader, every family, and every Council Bluffs neighbor who made this summer's challenge a success. And thank you to our community supporters. A donation of $150 helps one more child join next summer's reading challenge and take home their own prizes along the way.

Want to help keep the challenge growing? Donations are always welcome at councilbluffslibrary.org/about/library-foundation. ๐Ÿ’™

Council Bluffs Reads is off to a wonderful start! ๐Ÿ“šโœจ

Last month, the Council Bluffs Public Library welcomed New York Times bestselling author Kristin Harmel, known for historical fiction favorites like The Book of Lost Names and The Paris Daughter, for the very first Council Bluffs Reads author event. Thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate a love of reading with us.

The Council Bluffs Public Library Foundation was proud to help make this event possible. Bringing bestselling authors to Council Bluffs is exactly the kind of experience we love supporting, because access to moments like these should be part of what a library card means in this community.

Council Bluffs Reads isn't slowing down. Keep an eye out for the October author, David Heska Wanbli Weiden, and learn more about the program at councilbluffslibrary.org/councilbluffsreads.

Today is International Literacy Day. A day to celebrate reading and everyone working to build a more literate community. ๐ŸŒ๐Ÿ“š

At Council Bluffs Public Library, that work happens every week, for every age:
๐Ÿ“– Youth: Storytime in the Treehouse runs Tuesdays and Thursdays for our youngest readers, with a Monday After School Drop-In and rotating Wednesday programs for grades K-6
๐ŸŽฎ Teens: Teen Central offers something new every week: book clubs, gaming tournaments, writing workshops, and hands-on craft nights
๐ŸŽ‰ All ages: Special events like Homeschool Huddle, book sales, and seasonal programs pop up throughout the month

Literacy starts with a story and grows into a lifelong habit, and this library is built to support it at every age. Head to councilbluffslibrary.org/events for the full calendar and find your family's next favorite program.

Today is National Read a Book Day, and there's no better time to remind Council Bluffs: your library card is the key to way more than just books. ๐Ÿ“–๐Ÿ”‘

Getting a card is simple. Bring a photo ID and proof of your current address and you're set. It's free for residents of Council Bluffs, unincorporated and rural Pottawattamie County, Crescent, McClelland, Minden, Treynor, Underwood, and Iowa Open Access Participants.

Already have a card? A couple of things worth knowing:
๐Ÿ” Library accounts expire every three years, and renewal has to happen in person
๐Ÿ“‡ Always bring your card or photo ID to check out
๐Ÿ“ฆ Most items renew automatically if no one else has a hold on them

Once you're signed up, your card unlocks:
๐Ÿ“ฑ Free e-books, e-audiobooks, and music through Libby and Hoopla
๐ŸŽŸ๏ธ Discovery Passes to local attractions
๐Ÿ–จ๏ธ Printing, faxing, copying, scanning, and free notary services
๐Ÿ”ง Makerspace access and the Library of Things
๐ŸŽ‰ Programming for every age, all year long
