Happy Halloween, Central Whidbey!

Our crews are getting ready for a spooktacular evening!

Stop by and say hello at the Trunk or Treat at Living Hope Church on October 31 from 5–7 PM! 🍬🚒

As you head out for Halloween festivities, remember to keep safety in mind. Bring a flashlight, stay visible, and make sure younger trick-or-treaters have an adult along for the fun.

Have a fun, safe, and spooky Halloween!

🍂We're excited to welcome the Coupeville Chamber of Commerce!

Tomorrow morning, Central Whidbey Island Fire & Rescue will have the pleasure of hosting the Coupeville Chamber's October Member Meeting at Station 53!

We're looking forward to connecting with local business owners and community members, sharing a presentation about our district and the services we provide including fire prevention for businesses, and giving attendees a behind-the-scenes tour of our station.

Opportunities like these allow us to share what we do beyond emergency response, strengthen local partnerships, and build connections with the community we proudly serve.

We look forward to seeing everyone tomorrow!

Chief Lamar built a legacy during his time on Whidbey, shaping and training many of today’s Whidbey first responders. We are heartbroken to hear of his passing today, and our thoughts and prayers are with his family.

Our walls have some new artwork! 🥰

We recently received these sweet thank-you cards from students following our firefighters' visits during Fire Prevention Week, and they were too special not to display!

A big thank-you to all of our crews who took the time to participate, and a special shoutout to Lieutenant Jen Porter, our Community Risk Reduction Division Manager, for coordinating the presentations and helping make these visits possible.

Moments like these are a wonderful reminder that fire safety education goes beyond the classroom. The connections we make with our youngest community members can leave a lasting impression, building confidence, inspiring curiosity, and teaching important lessons that can last a lifetime.

Thank you to the students for brightening our walls and our day!

Central Whidbey Neighbors,

While the burn ban has officially been lifted, it's important to remember that outdoor burning is still subject to certain restrictions and regulations.

Before you light that fire, take a moment to familiarize yourself with what's allowed and what requirements still apply.

🌐 Visit our Outdoor Burning resource page for more detailed information and helpful resources:

Stay informed, burn responsibly, and help keep Central Whidbey safe!

🚨 REMINDER: Tomorrow is the Great Washington ShakeOut!

On Thursday, October 15, at 10:15 AM, communities across Washington will participate in the annual Great Washington ShakeOut earthquake drill.

Heads up, Central Whidbey! You may hear tsunami sirens sounding as part of scheduled testing. This is a drill, not an actual emergency.

We encourage everyone to take a moment to practice the three steps that can help protect you during an earthquake:

DROP • COVER • HOLD ON

Earthquakes can happen without warning, but taking time to prepare can make a difference.

✅ Talk with your family about your emergency plan.
✅ Know how to respond during an earthquake.
✅ Sign up for local emergency alerts.
✅ Make sure you have emergency supplies ready.

Whether you're at home, at work, or at school, tomorrow is a great opportunity to practice and prepare.
