On Wednesday evening, September 23, 2026, Northern Kentucky SWAT assisted the Kenton County Police Department with a search warrant at a residence in the 1800 block of Autumn Maple Drive in Independence. The response was related to a child abuse investigation being conducted by Kenton County Police.

NKY SWAT personnel provided tactical assistance in support of the operation. Kenton County Police arrested Johnny Friedrich Bell, 41, of Independence, who was subsequently booked into the Kenton County Detention Center.

Bell was charged with:
* R**e, 2nd Degree: Position of Authority
* So**my, 3rd Degree — two counts
* In**st
* Procuring a Minor by Electronic Means

The Kenton County Police Department is the investigating agency. NKY SWAT’s involvement focused on supporting the warrant operation. Questions concerning the allegations, criminal charges, evidence, and further investigative developments should be directed to Kenton County Police.

Northern Kentucky SWAT provides specialized personnel and resources to assist law enforcement agencies throughout the region. These coordinated efforts reflect the importance of cooperation among partner agencies when responding to incidents requiring additional tactical support.

Protecting the public, supporting our law enforcement partners, and preserving life remain central to NKY SWAT’s mission. Our team remains committed to serving Northern Kentucky with professionalism and accountability.

NOTE: All criminal charges are allegations. Bell is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.

🎉 Congratulations to Captain Michael D. Brock and Captain Christopher J. Lauer II! 🎉

Please join NKY SWAT in congratulating Captain Michael D. Brock and Captain Christopher J. Lauer II on their graduation from the Federal Bureau of Investigation's 298th Session of the National Academy in Quantico, Virginia.

The FBI National Academy is internationally recognized for its academic excellence and provides 10 weeks of advanced training in leadership, communication, physical fitness, and contemporary law enforcement practices. Attendance is by invitation only and reserved for law enforcement professionals with distinguished records of service. Nationally, fewer than one percent of law enforcement officers have the opportunity to attend this prestigious program. On average, participants have more than 21 years of law enforcement experience and return to their agencies prepared to serve in executive-level leadership positions.

Captain Brock serves as the Assistant Commander of NKY SWAT and is a member of the Independence Police Department. Since joining NKY SWAT in January 2013, he has played a vital role in the team's success, demonstrating exceptional leadership, sound decision-making, and an unwavering commitment to officer safety and tactical excellence. His dedication to continuous learning and professional development has made a lasting impact on both NKY SWAT and his home agency.

Captain Lauer serves as the Team Leader of Blue Team and is a member of the Campbell County Police Department. Since joining NKY SWAT in December 2015, he has consistently exemplified professionalism, integrity, and servant leadership. His commitment to training, mentoring fellow SWAT officers, and maintaining the highest standards of tactical readiness has earned the respect of his teammates and peers throughout the region.

Graduating from the FBI National Academy is one of the highest professional achievements in law enforcement. The advanced knowledge, leadership skills, and relationships developed during this rigorous program will continue to benefit their home agencies, NKY SWAT, and the citizens we are privileged to serve.

On behalf of the NKY SWAT Executive Board and every member of our team, we congratulate Captain Brock and Captain Lauer on this outstanding accomplishment. Your dedication to excellence, leadership, and the law enforcement profession reflects the very best of NKY SWAT. We are proud to serve alongside both of you and look forward to the continued impact you will make throughout Northern Kentucky.

Congratulations, gentlemen, on this well-deserved achievement!
