Fellow brothers and sisters, Please stay with me for a few.

I often get asked “Why join the VFW, Legion, DAV or any Service Organization?”For me, this is the best answer. Research the Take Care of America's Veterans Act" (H.R. 9237 / S. 4744). The title sounds great, but, it is a way to fund for the Richard Star Act by stripping Veterans of other benefits like compensation for tinnitus and sleep apnea.

This is being pushed by Republicans in the house and senate.

These organizations testify in Congress, at both the national and state levels, to fight for our benefits. 20 years ago, our organizations had over twice the number of members as they do today. That means our voice is not as loud.

Even if you have no desire to participate, I urge you to join at least one of the Service Organizations that you qualify for. Most are around $50 a year and the more of us who join, the louder our voice.

Every session someone tries to take away more of our benefits. We volunteered to serve, now we need to fight our elected officials to keep what we have earned.
