Covington Police Department The Patrol Division of the Covington Police Department is responsible for answering calls for service within the city limits.

Patrol officers of the division are the first to respond to all calls for services. Patrol officers are responsible for traffic enforcement, accident investigation, minor criminal investigations, business and residential security checks, assisting citizens and motorist and enforcing all local, and state laws.

The City Treasurer's Office has contracted with the Virginia Collection Company to serve delinquent tax notices. Two gentlemen will be in town all week serving these papers. At 1122 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along
a line extending from near Covington to near Hollywood. These storms
were nearly stationary.

HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects.

The City of Covington will implement a new alert system starting next week. If you would like to sign up for alerts that can be sent to your cell or home phone as well as email, scan the QR code and register online. You can also pick up a registration form at any City Hall office.

In August, Covington's Commissioner of Revenue office will conduct a food drive. Donations can be brought to their office at 333 W. Locust Street during normal business hours. They will also be out at Walmart in the morning on Aug. 12th, accepting donations in person. Most needed items are listed on the flyer. If you have any questions, you can contact their office at (540) 965-6352.
