Thanks for a great Family Fall Fest, Covington!

We loved seeing so many families out enjoying mini horses, inflatables, fall games, pumpkin decorating and, of course, our pumpkin pie eating contest!

A big thank you to our partners, vendors and sponsor Jumping Joey’s for helping make the day so much fun!

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and you may notice the tree at the Don Henning Roundabout glowing purple throughout the month.

The lights were officially turned on Saturday during Purple Light Nights, presented by the Covington Rotary Club in partnership with the City of Covington. This year is especially meaningful as Purple Light Nights celebrates 20 years of raising awareness about domestic violence and showing support for victims and survivors.

The Covington City Council has also proclaimed October 2026 as Domestic Violence Awareness Month, encouraging our community to continue raising awareness, supporting those impacted by domestic violence and bringing hope to those who may still be experiencing it.

Keep the purple going all month long by displaying a purple light at your home or business to honor victims, support survivors and help shine a light on domestic violence awareness.

Need help with an essential home repair?

The City of Covington’s Minor Home Repair Program provides grant funding to help income-qualified homeowners pay for essential, non-cosmetic home repairs that address health and safety concerns.

Eligible homeowners may receive up to $5,000 in grant funding per job, and repairs are completed by licensed, bonded and insured contractors. These are grants, so qualifying homeowners do not have to repay the assistance.

To qualify, homeowners must have owned and lived in their home for at least one year, live within Covington city limits, have current homeowner’s insurance and meet HUD income requirements.

Think you or someone you know could benefit from the program?

To confirm eligibility and begin the application process, contact Karrie Coston at 253-480-2444 or [email protected].

The weather is changing, the rain is coming and the leaves are starting to fall. Karma has already been getting a head start on fall cleanup, and you can too!

Adopt-a-Drain is a fun and easy way to make a difference right in your own neighborhood. Pick a storm drain to adopt, give it a name and help keep it clear of leaves and trash. Keeping drains clear can help prevent localized flooding and keep debris and pollutants out of our local waterways.

And yes, naming your drain is part of the fun. Here are a few names already claimed by Covington locals:

Leaf Lurker
Drain Man
Drainy McDrainface
The Drain of Life
The Basinator
Chili Champ Ben
Shania Drain
Karma The Chameleon’s Catch Basin

Can you come up with an even better one? Post your drains and names in the comments!
