Your Cowpens firefighters had the opportunity to train on a tower crane on this windy Saturday morning. Firefighters took the opportunity to get comfortable working and rigging at roughly 250’ in the air out on the jib and on the cab platform of the crane. Firefighters ran two main scenarios. The first scenario was to lower a crane operator from the cab platform in the event of a medical emergency. The second scenario was to remove an injured person from the roof of an adjacent building while communicating with the crane operator to utilize the hoist/hook block as a high directional. We are very thankful for the opportunity to get hands on training for things that could present challenges in the event of an emergency.
