A mobile disaster assistance center will be hosted at the Hiles Town Hall in November. Staff from FEMA and SBA will provide in-person assistance to help residents navigate the application process.

If your primary home or business sustained storm damage on July 27, 2026, you may be eligible for assistance.

‼️The deadline to begin an application is December 7, 2026.‼️

📢 IMPORTANT: ASSISTANCE AVAILIBLE FOR JULY 27, 2026 STORMS

Forest County has been included in the FEMA Individual Assistance (IA) disaster declaration for the severe storms that occurred on July 27, 2026.

While damage across the county was limited in many areas, the majority of reported damage in Forest County occurred in the Town of Hiles area. If your primary residence was damaged by this storm, you are encouraged to apply for FEMA Individual Assistance. See 4949 | FEMA.gov for information on how to apply.

Forest County Emergency Management is working with Wisconsin Emergency Management (WEM) and FEMA to coordinate a pop-up assistance event that would bring FEMA and Small Business Administration (SBA) staff directly to Forest County to provide in-person assistance and help residents navigate the application process.
More information about the event will be shared as details are confirmed.

If your primary home sustained storm damage on July 27, please consider applying for assistance. You do not need to wait for the in-person event to begin exploring your options.

The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) may offer disaster assistance to eligible small businesses affected by the storm. See SBA disaster assistance for information on how to apply.

🚨 September is Emergency Preparedness Month! 🚨

Now is the time to prepare for all disasters before they strike.
💠 First, assess your needs. If you are older or disabled, know who will be there to assist you. If you have children or infants, ensure you have everything they need. Don't forget about pets!
💠 Next, make a plan. Discuss your plan for emergencies. Include a plan for a fire, flood, tornado, and blizzard.
💠 Last, practice your plan with your family/household.

September is National Preparedness Month!

Take time this month to prepare and be ready BEFORE a disaster or emergency happens.

There are 5 steps to making an emergency plan.📓

1️⃣ Know your risks. Learn what emergencies can happen in your area.
2️⃣ Make a meeting place. Choose a safe location where your family can meet.
3️⃣ Choose an emergency contact. Pick someone everyone can call if you are separated.
4️⃣ Plan how to leave. Know the safest way to leave your home or area.
5️⃣ Practice the plan. Practice your plan so everyone knows what to do.

🎒 Go Bag: Essential items to take with you if you need to leave quickly.
