We Climbed Because They Climbed!
In Memory of the 25th Anniversary of 9/11
On Saturday, September 12, 2026, Crane 1st Responders, CMS athletes, and CMS band members participated in the Tall City 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb at Astound Broadband Stadium in Midland, Texas. Participants included members from the Crane County Sheriff's Office, Lt. Jeff Muñoz, Lt. Fernando Morado, Correctional Officer Victoria Gonzales, Texas Game Warden Ty Washington, Texas DPS Driver's License Division Maritza Morado, Crane Fire Department personnel Malaki Hernandez and Arianna Martinez, Crane Middle School Cross Country Athlete Isabella Morado, Jessica Ortiz, and Crane Middle School Band Member D'Layni Hernandez.
The memorial climb honors all 411 First Responders who made the heroic sacrifice on September 11, 2001, during the coordinated terrorist attacks carried out by al-Qaeda against the United States. Nearly 3,000 innocent lives were lost that day.
Each participant carries the name of a first responder who did not return home that day, which is then displayed on the Memorial Wall once the participant completes the stair climb, a process that typically takes approximately 1.5 to 2 hours to complete.
This memorial serves as a reminder that we will never forget the sacrifices made, and that the United States of America will stand strong against all forms of evil.
All Crane 1st Responders, Crane Middle School athletes, and band members represented the Crane community with pride as they completed the equivalent of over 100 floors and flights of stairs at Astound Broadband Stadium.
Congratulations to everyone for representing Crane, Texas, with integrity and pride.
God Bless America! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
