For 43 years, Richard Campopiano has called Cranston home with his wife, Debbie. The two started their business together on their honeymoon and have proudly owned and operated that business for 43 years.

Richard is a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. His children and grandchildren attend Cranston schools, giving his family deep roots in the Cranston community.

Richard is seeking reelection to the Cranston City Council, where he has served for the past five years. As a longtime businessman and councilman, he brings practical experience in budgeting, planning, and overseeing million-dollar projects. He has worked with large corporations, managed employees, and helped solve countless constituent concerns.

Richard has also worked to promote local businesses and support Cranston's business community. Among his efforts, he was responsible for achieving 99% reimbursement for sidewalk improvements for Cranston residents with disabilities, helping make the city more accessible.

After 43 years of building a business, raising a family, and serving his community, Richard Campopiano is asking Cranston voters for the opportunity to continue serving on the City Council.

Jessica Gomes is a Republican candidate for Rhode Island State Representative in House District 18 in Cranston. She is a small business owner, financial literacy educator, and business professional whose background includes entrepreneurship, insurance, education, and business operations.

Jessica’s campaign focuses on three priorities: affordability, education, and small business. At the center of all three is a simple question: Are we setting our children up to succeed in Rhode Island?

She believes Rhode Island needs to be affordable enough that the next generation can grow up here, build careers, buy homes, raise families, and not feel that leaving for a more affordable state is their only option.

In education, Jessica supports a system that recognizes that children learn differently and that success does not look the same for every student. Some students will pursue college, some trades, and some will become entrepreneurs. In 2025, just 33.7% of Rhode Island students in grades 3–8 were proficient in English Language Arts and 31.4% were proficient in math on the RICAS assessment. Jessica believes those results reinforce the need to examine how Rhode Island serves different learning styles and prepares students for multiple paths after graduation.

Her focus on small business extends to both today’s entrepreneurs and tomorrow’s. She wants Rhode Island business owners to be able to support their families and prosper, while making entrepreneurship a realistic path to success for young people who may one day choose to build something of their own.

For Jessica, these issues are connected: creating a Rhode Island where the next generation has the education, opportunity, and affordability necessary to build a future here.

Candidate Spotlight - Joseph Iannitti

Joseph is a lifelong Cranston resident. He went through Cranston Schools and graduated from Cranston West in 2024. He has been a long time community volunteer and a swim coach of 4 years.

Joseph is trying to bring a new voice and unique perspective to the way our city is run. He is working to make sure our younger generations are properly represented and have a say in what goes on in their city.

Joseph is currently the Chairman of the Cranston Young Republican City Committee and is working hard to empower younger residents of Cranston to turn their ideas into action.

Joseph is planning to build better economic opportunities, prioritizing easing the transition from student to worker. He has already worked with several of his fellow candidates to improve our parks and plans to prioritize keeping our parks and recreational facilities properly maintained for our youth and anyone who utilizes them. He is going to fight for our schools and public safety so children can have a safe and enjoyable childhood. He is going to make sure our government is more transparent so people know what is going on, when it is happening and how it will affect their lives.

Joseph is fighting for the future of Cranston, he is fighting so future generations won’t have to leave the city to live successfully, he is fighting for a future where Cranston is more prosperous than ever before.

The Cranston Republican City Committee endorses Aaron Guckian for Governor.

Rhode Island is too expensive. Energy bills are too high. Housing is out of reach. Government costs too much and delivers too little.

Guckian will fight for lower costs, more housing, and a state that works for working families. Cranston Republicans are with him.
