🏠Learning Beyond the Classroom!🔨

Mr. Ferrie’s high school students recently toured three local homes in different stages of construction, getting a firsthand look at the homebuilding process!

Students explored different building styles and approaches, asked questions, and saw classroom concepts come to life. They also learned about career opportunities in the trades, the growing demand for skilled workers, and the importance of planning, craftsmanship, and attention to detail.

A big thank you to Chas Malek and Josh Tupy of Malek Builders, Darin Ferrie of 3B Construction, and Codey Hayek of Hayek Electric for sharing their time and expertise with our students!

Even better, all four are Crestwood graduates! We appreciate their willingness to give back and help inspire the next generation!

📐Bringing geometry to life!

Students in Mr. Thompson’s Supplemental Geometry class recently welcomed Aaron Wemark, owner of A&J’s Construction LLC, to show how math and geometry are used in construction every day.

Aaron shared real examples involving measuring, angles, layouts, blueprints, estimating, and materials. Students got some hands-on experience, and even a few teachers joined in, as they saw how the things they’re learning in class connect to the work being done in the field.

A big thank you to Aaron for taking the time to work with our students and share his experience!

PINK OUT!

The Crestwood volleyball team is hosting a Pink Out tonight and raising money for HoCA. No one is celebrating cancer survivors and honoring those lost to cancer more than our volleyball coaches.

Thank you to Upper Iowa University for hosting our students for their College Fair!🎓

Students had the opportunity to connect with representatives from more than 50 colleges, universities, community colleges, and military programs while exploring a variety of options for life after high school.

We also enjoyed a campus tour and lunch on campus, giving students a chance to experience a little bit of college life firsthand. As an added bonus, we even ran into a Crestwood grad while we were there!💙

Exciting opportunities are ahead for our welding students!🧑‍🏭⚙️

Today, students enrolled in the NICC Welding program toured Featherlite to see firsthand what they could experience through a new Quality Pre-Apprenticeship, one of the first of its kind in Iowa!

A big thank you to the Featherlite team for showing our students around, answering their questions, and giving them a closer look at where this pathway could take them!
