Patrons at our Lockport Branch packed the meeting room to hear from paranormal historian, author, and presenter, Ursula Bielski on the brutal history and harrowing haunts related to the Old Joliet Prison. Right down the street from our Lockport Branch, this penitentiary is one of the most infamous in the world: known for its cruel treatment of prisoners. A perfect presentation for the spooky season! 👻

Patrons at the Crest Hill branch enjoyed an evening of crafting where they had the opportunity to think outside the box. By combining unique shapes, colors, and patterns to bring personal stories to life, patrons created beautiful paper portraits of themselves, friends, family, and pets.

Patrons got to show off their creative side and decorate some pumpkins at our Romeoville branches pumpkin decorating program! They all turned out amazing and everyone has a great time! 🎃🎃🎃

In Lockport's Books & Blockbusters book club, we will discuss books and their film adaptations. Attendees will read the book selections individually, and then we will come together to watch the adapted movie and discuss it. In November, our selected title is “The Maltese Falcon”, by Dashiell Hammett. Whether you’re familiar with the movie and are curious about the book, or vice versa, or even if it will be your first time experiencing both, we’d love to have you join us!

We’ll meet on Thursday, November 19th from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM, and begin by watching the movie before diving into discussion. Copies of this month’s book are available at Lockport’s Reference Desk to check out. See you there!
