We have received the report of a phone scam in which the caller ID appears as a local (970) 349 number. The caller claims to be from a bank’s fraud department and asks whether you recently made a specific purchase. If you say you did not, they claim your account has been compromised and that fraudulent charges have been made on your card. They then attempt to obtain your banking information.

Never provide your banking or personal financial information over the phone.

If you receive a call from someone claiming to represent your bank, hang up and contact your bank directly using the phone number listed on the back of your card or on the bank’s official website.
