South Oldham Rotary Recognizes October Students of the Month
The South Oldham Rotary Club recently recognized three outstanding South Oldham High School students as its Students of the Month during its October 9 meeting. The program honors students who demonstrate excellence in academics, leadership, extracurricular involvement, and service to their school and community.
Peyton Layne, son of Donald and Courtney Layne, was recognized for his achievements both inside and outside the classroom. Peyton's goal is to be successful in whatever path he pursues and to continue playing baseball while working in the field of physical therapy. His college choice will be determined by the institution that offers the best opportunity to achieve both his academic and athletic goals. A member of the South Oldham High School baseball team, Peyton has earned his ServSafe Certification and serves on the Student Advisory Council. In his free time, he enjoys working out, spending time with family, and continuing to develop his skills on the baseball field.
Margret Murphy, daughter of Jill and Brandon Murphy, plans to pursue a career in nursing with the long-term goal of becoming a nurse practitioner. She intends to attend Eastern Kentucky University, where she plans to continue her soccer career. Margret is actively involved in numerous organizations, including Beta Club, National Honor Society, LINK Crew, the KHSAA Student Advisory Council, and the South Oldham High School soccer team. She also serves as Senior Class Treasurer. Her accomplishments include earning the College Board National Recognition Award and the Distinguished Student Athlete Award. Outside of school, Margret enjoys spending time with family and friends, going to the lake, and enjoying outdoor activities.
Leslie Ramos, daughter of Mariana Ramos and Manuel Ramos, plans to pursue a degree in Marketing or Marketing Management. Her college choices include Indiana University Bloomington, the University of Louisville, and the University of Kentucky. Leslie is an active member of the South Oldham High School soccer team, Beta Club, National Honor Society, and Spanish Club. Among her academic achievements are maintaining AB Honor Roll status and earning the AP Scholar with Honors Award. When she is not in school, Leslie enjoys playing soccer, reading, and writing.
