Here are five facts:
â–¶ The cost of operating schools is rising faster than funding growth, creating a projected $75 million funding gap over the next 10 years.
▶ Missouri’s Hancock Amendment requires Parkway to roll back its tax rate. In addition, due to the senior tax freeze, Parkway is projected to lose ~$30 million in projected funding over the next decade.
â–¶ The district made reductions while minimizing the impact on students and classrooms.
â–¶ Prop P would provide funding for teachers and staff, school safety, classroom resources, and student programs and services. If approved, the estimated increase for a $400,000 home is approximately $7/week.
▶ This is the first time in 20 years that Parkway has placed an operating tax increase on the ballot. Even with Prop P, Parkway’s tax rate would remain lower than it was in 2016.
