๐Ÿš’ TRUCK THURSDAY: ENGINE 22 ๐Ÿš’

This week, weโ€™re highlighting Engine 22, our 2008 Freightliner, built and equipped to handle a wide variety of emergencies!

๐Ÿš’ Apparatus: 2008 Freightliner
๐Ÿ’ง Pump Capacity: 1,250 GPM
๐Ÿšฐ Water Tank: 750 gallons
๐Ÿ“Ÿ Call Sign: Engine 22

๐Ÿ”ฅ Primary Assignment: Engine 22 is our first-out apparatus for all fire calls, motor vehicle accidents, and rescue calls.

Engine 22 is equipped to serve as a universal response engine, carrying the equipment and capabilities needed to respond to many different types of incidents. In addition to its firefighting and rescue equipment, Engine 22 also carries medical equipment to assist with patient assessment and treatment when needed, allowing our crew to provide care until additional EMS resources arrive or as part of a coordinated response.

Whether we're responding to a structure fire, a vehicle accident, a rescue situation, or a medical need, Engine 22 is ready to go when the community needs us.

Every piece of apparatus plays an important role in our department, and Engine 22 is a vital part of our ability to respond quickly and effectively.

๐Ÿ’ช One engine. Multiple capabilities. Ready when it matters.

TRUCK THURSDAY | CHIEF 21 ๐Ÿš’

Today weโ€™re highlighting Chief 21, our 2014 Ford Expedition command vehicle.

Chief 21 serves an important purpose beyond simply transporting our Chief. It allows our Chief to respond quickly, arrive early, and begin taking command of an incident as soon as possible.

๐Ÿšจ Why is that important?
Arriving early allows our Chief to quickly assess the situation, identify hazards, determine what resources are needed, and begin establishing an organized command structure.

๐Ÿ“ก Chief 21 is equipped to establish a command post, providing the communication and organization needed to coordinate the incident and maintain situational awareness throughout the response.

๐Ÿง‘โ€๐Ÿš’ Our Chief also carries firefighting gear and necessary equipment in Chief 21, allowing him to be prepared to operate in a variety of situations when needed.

๐Ÿ“ Chief 21 also gives our Chief the ability to move throughout the county quickly, respond to multiple incidents when necessary, assist with resource coordination, and provide leadership wherever it is needed.

Having a dedicated command vehicle helps provide stronger incident management, better communication, improved accountability, and faster decision-making when seconds and organization matter.

Chief 21 may look like a simple SUV, but it serves a critical role in our department and helps us provide a more organized and effective emergency response throughout the community.

๐Ÿš’ Chief 21 โ€” Command. Coordination. Leadership. Service.

๐Ÿš’๐Ÿš‘ THOUGHTS FOR THURSDAY ๐Ÿš‘๐Ÿš’

โ€œWHY ARENโ€™T THEY RUNNING?โ€

Have you ever watched firefighters, EMTs, or paramedics arrive at an emergency and wondered why they aren't moving faster?

The truth isโ€”we are. We just aren't rushing.

When we arrive, we're already assessing the situation, identifying hazards, determining what the patient needs, getting the right equipment, communicating with our crew, and making decisions that can affect the outcome.

You may see us taking a few seconds to look around or walking instead of sprinting to the danger/medical emergency.

That doesn't mean we're taking our time. It means we're working with purpose.

๐Ÿš‘ In EMS, the wrong treatment done quickly is still the wrong treatment.

๐Ÿš’ In the fire service, rushing into the wrong situation can create another victim.

We train to work with urgency, not panic. So don't mistake a calm firefighter, EMT, or paramedic for someone who isn't in a hurry or for someone who does not care.

๐Ÿš‘Fast when it matters. Deliberate when it matters.๐Ÿš’

๐Ÿ”ฅ๐ŸŒฒ FOREST FIRE HAZARD SEASON ๐ŸŒฒ๐Ÿ”ฅ

Kentuckyโ€™s Fall Forest Fire Hazard Season begins October 1st and runs through December 15th.

๐Ÿšซ Burning within 150 feet of woodland or brushland is prohibited from 6 AMโ€“6 PM during fire hazard season.

๐Ÿ”ฅ If you burn, use caution, check local restrictions, and never leave a fire unattended.

๐Ÿ’ง Always have a water source adequate enough to completely put the fire out.

๐Ÿ“ž If youโ€™re conducting a controlled burn, contact your local non-emergency number and advise them of the burn. This can help prevent unnecessary 911 calls from concerned citizens seeing smoke.

Help us prevent wildfires and keep our community safe! ๐Ÿš’
