Crooksville Volunteer Fire Department

Today, the Crooksville Fire Department took possession of a brand-new swift water rescue boat, purchased with donations designated specifically for this purpose.

The historic flooding our community experienced reinforced the need for specialized water rescue training and proper equipment. This boat is an important step in strengthening our ability to help residents during future water emergencies.

We extend our sincere thanks to the donors who made this purchase possible. Your generosity is helping us better protect our community.

A special thank-you to Alan Graham with Heritage Fire Equipment for working with us to ensure we were equipped with exactly what we needed.

🚒 Training Night at Crooksville Fire! 💦

Tonight, our firefighters trained with HEN nozzles, with instruction provided by Josh Bryan from Res1cue and Ed Guy from HEN Nozzles.

Crews conducted a side-by-side comparison of the HEN nozzles and our current combination nozzles, gaining hands-on experience and discussing their differences.

Thank you to Josh and Ed for sharing their time and knowledge with our department. Continued training helps us build our skills and better serve our community!

Early Wednesday morning, the Crooksville Fire Department, along with mutual aid from Roseville, Newton Township, and New Lexington fire departments, was dispatched to a report of a motorcycle on fire next to a residence.

Upon arrival, Rescue 211 found heavy fire showing from the structure. Quick action by the R-211 crew brought the main body of fire under control. Crews from all departments then worked together to complete overhaul and extinguish hot spots.

The home did not have working smoke alarms. Fortunately, a neighbor alerted and woke the resident, who safely evacuated. No injuries were reported. The structure sustained substantial damage.

We thank Roseville, Newton Township, and New Lexington fire departments for their assistance and teamwork. We also recognize the neighbor whose quick actions helped the resident escape safely.

Please take a moment to check your smoke alarms and make sure they are working. Early warning can save lives.

On 10/7/26, the Fire Department members under the direction of Chief Newlon and Asst. Chief Baker worked on checking the local streams for blockages and issues that could create more flooding issues.

During this evaluation, photos were taken of issues and blockages. Some areas were not able to be accessed safely so we were able to utilize Roseville Volunteer Fire Departments Drone to access these areas and get photos safely.

All of the photos collected are being submitted to the Village Administrator and we will work with the Village to get resources in to assist in cleaning these areas out to help reduce some of the flooding if possible.

Understand that there are many streams in our area and though you may not have saw a member physically, areas were being checked. We will continue to check areas as we can to assist in getting the photos and evidence needed for resources to respond and clean the areas out.

We thank the community for their understanding and support!

🚒 Chief Newlon and the Crooksville Fire Department remind you: Have a plan before an emergency strikes!

Know two ways out, choose an outside meeting place, and practice your escape plan with your family.

🔥 Get out. Stay out. Call 911.

🚒 A big THANK YOU to our Crooksville Fire Auxiliary!

Our auxiliary has been working extra hard to raise funds to support our firefighters. Last evening, they approved the purchase of a new Whelen lightbar for our new Engine 213, which is expected to enter service in the coming weeks!

We appreciate their dedication and everyone who supports their fundraising efforts. Your support helps keep our department moving forward! ❤️

Stay tuned for updates as we get Engine 213 ready to serve our community!
