The Crowley Fire Department is currently on scene working residential structure fire on North Trail Street.
At approximately 3:20pm, Engine 54, Truck 54, Medic 254, Battalion 54, and Burleson Engine 171 were dispatched to a residential structure fire. Units arrived on scene and made entry into the residence to find smoke and fire coming from a bedroom. Engine 54 was assigned fire attack and made an interior attack, and Truck 54 completed a primary search of the residence.
At this time, the fire has been extinguished and there are no reported injuries to any residents, pets, or personnel.
The cause of the fire has not yet been determined and remains under investigation. During the initial investigation, it was learned that a 9-year-old child was at the residence when he noticed smoke and fire coming from a bedroom while washing dishes in the kitchen.
The child immediately called to report the fire, safely got both of the family’s dogs out of the home, and waited with them across the street until firefighters arrived. His quick thinking and calm actions helped ensure that everyone, including the family pets, was safely out of the home before crews arrived. Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the fire, with most of the damage contained to a single bedroom.
Please avoid the area and seek alternate routes.
Update: All units have cleared.
