Happy ER Nurses Week! 🩺

From everyday emergencies to disasters, nurses are a big part of keeping our community safe and prepared. Acadia Parish OHSEP sends a special THANK YOU to the ER nurses at Acadia St Landry Hospital & Ochsner Acadia General Hospital, and all emergency nurses caring for our communities.

We’re also proud to recognize our very own Police Jury President, Beau Petitjean, who serves as an emergency room registered nurse!

Thank you for caring for our families and helping keep our communities ready, safe, and strong!

🔥 BURN BAN – ACADIA PARISH 🔥

Beau Petitjean, Police Jury President, has issued a burn ban due to ongoing dry conditions affecting Acadia Parish and surrounding areas.

🌬️ FIRE WEATHER UPDATE – NWS LAKE CHARLES
-Dry conditions, low humidity, and gusty winds increase fire danger.
-Fires can spread rapidly under these conditions.
-Avoid activities that could create sparks and start a fire.

🚫 NO outdoor burning of trash, leaves, or debris.
✅ BBQ SAFETY: BBQs are allowed only if done safely. Never leave them unattended, and make sure fires are completely extinguished with water when finished.
⚠️ Fire danger remains high. Following the burn ban helps protect our homes, property, land, and the firefighters who serve our community.

🚒 The burn ban remains in effect until further notice and will be lifted when conditions improve.

👨‍🚒 Questions or need more information? Contact your district fire chief.

📢 Updates will be shared as conditions change.

Thank you for your cooperation and commitment to keeping Acadia Parish safe! 🔥

🚨 Mass Casualty Incident (MCI) Tabletop Exercise

Acadia Parish OHSEP would like to thank all local and state agencies, first responders, healthcare organizations, and community partners who dedicated part of their Saturday to participating in our Mass Casualty Incident (MCI) Tabletop Exercise.

A special thank you to FETA and the Louisiana State Fire Marshal’s Office for sharing their expertise and assisting with the organization and facilitation of the exercise. We would also like to thank Acadia Parish Police Jury President Beau Petitjean for taking the time to prepare lunch for everyone!

Exercises like these provide valuable opportunities for our response partners to work through realistic scenarios, strengthen communication, and identify areas for improvement before an actual emergency occurs.

Thank you to all participating agencies and organizations:

LERN • Crowley Fire Department • Iota Fire Department • Ritchie Fire Department • Rayne Police Department • Rayne City Marshal’s Office • LDH/OPH • Acadian Ambulance • Med Express • Ochsner Health • Disability Access Solutions • Church Point Fire Department • DS Bus • Acadia Parish School Board • Branch Fire Department • Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office • Acadia Parish 911 Communications/Dispatch • GOHSEP • Rayne Fire Department • Our Lady of Lourdes • FETA • Louisiana State Fire Marshal’s Office
