On this day, we remember the 2,977 innocent lives lost, the families forever changed, and the countless first responders who answered the call without hesitation. We honor the courage, sacrifice, and selflessness displayed by firefighters, law enforcement officers, EMS personnel, military members, and ordinary citizens who came together in our nation's darkest hours.

Twenty-five years later, we continue to carry the lessons of unity, resilience, and service that emerged from that tragic day. May we never forget those who perished, those who survived, and those who continue to bear the physical and emotional scars of 9/11

🔥🔥. Today, Aug 4, 2026, at approximately 4:45 PM, Croydon Fire Department, along with our mutual aid partners from Grantham, Newport, and Sunapee Fire Departments, and New London Ambulance, were dispatched to a reported first alarm for smoke coming from the roof area of a residence in Croydon.

After searching for the residence for approximately 10 minutes, crews located the property and observed smoke conditions from the front yard. Upon arrival and investigation, it was determined that the smoke was coming from an illegal outdoor burn.

Fire personnel quickly extinguished the fire, and the scene was cleared without incident.
This incident serves as an important reminder to ensure your residence has a clearly visible house number.

When calling 911 for a fire, medical emergency, or any other emergency, providing an accurate address is critical. In this case, locating the residence took additional time, which can delay emergency response. Clearly posted house numbers help first responders find you quickly when every second counts.

Croydon Fire Department would also like to remind residents that outdoor burning regulations remain in effect and that permits are required when applicable. If you have questions regarding outdoor burning, please contact the fire department before burning.🔥🔥🔥🔥🚒🚒
