Neill Elementary On behalf of the Edward D. Neill Elementary School staff, we welcome you to our school page. It is a privilege to have your child at our school.

Our goal at Neill Elementary is to meet the needs of all learners. Welcome to Neill Elementary, where happy and supported staff make for happy and supported students. We love welcoming young people into our nurturing academic community, where they find joy in learning the basics while building positive relationships with peers. We have created a family-oriented community that draws out the best in each child. Neill
offers:

A vibrant educational environment that celebrates children of all cultures and abilities
Annual special events and gatherings to honor students and bring our school family together
Classes and curriculum in which students see their culture, their experiences and themselves
A deep connection between home and school, where parents and teachers together provide support for students, inside and outside the classroom. At Neill, we make it a point to know every student and their family. Once families experience the special atmosphere here, they love it and stay. (Some of today’s parents attended Neill themselves!) Our active PTA sponsors an annual bingo night, dance and carnival, among other events. Along with the core curriculum, we help young people learn to self-regulate and center themselves so they can focus on school – skills that will serve them well through high school and after.

🍝📐 STEM in action at Neill Elementary! 📐🍝

Our favorite guests were in our building on Wednesday! Students from Breck High School visited our wonderful 3rd graders to lead a hands-on engineering challenge all about spaghetti cantilevers! 🏗️✨

Working in teams, our young engineers put their critical thinking and collaboration skills to the test. Armed with nothing but spaghetti noodles and masking tape, they had to figure out how to build a structure that extends vertically and horizontally into space without any support at the end. Talk about a fun, productive struggle! 🤔💡

Our 3rd graders did an amazing job listening to their high school mentors, testing out creative designs, and rebuilding when things got a little shaky. We love seeing our students think outside the box and work together to solve complex problems!

Thank you Breck Buddies! We are so excited for our next visit 💙💛

🎶 Making Magic in the Music Room! 📝🥁

Our 1st and 4th graders have been hard at work this week, proving that great musicians aren't afraid of a little "productive struggle!" 💪✨

Students stepped into the shoes of real composers to create their own unique rhythms.

Using a mix of fun icons and standard musical notation, our young musicians had to:
🤝 Work together in teams
💭 Try out fresh musical ideas
✏️ Revise and adjust their work when things didn't sound quite right

Watching them collaborate, problem-solve, and find the fun in the challenges was absolutely amazing. Mistakes are just the stepping stones to a beautiful masterpiece! 🎨🎶

Way to go, musicians! Keep shining and creating! 🌟👏

🧡 Wear orange tomorrow, Wednesday, October 21, for Unity Day! 🧡October is Bullying Prevention Month, and Robbinsdale Area Schools is committed to fostering a safe and supportive environment for all students. Unity Day, started by PACER’s National Bullying Prevention Center in October 2011, is the signature event of National Bullying Prevention Month. It’s a day dedicated to building community through kindness, acceptance, and inclusion. We’re encouraging everyone—students, families, and staff—to participate by wearing orange and spreading awareness. 🧡

🏈 Recess Rockstars Alert! 🏈

Our 5th graders are absolute MVPs out on the recess field!
Lately, they have been doing an incredible job during their daily football games, and we couldn’t be prouder of the leadership they are showing.

They are proving that true athletes shine brightest through their character by:

• Including everyone who wants to join the game.
• Encouraging good sportsmanship with high-fives and positive words.
• Playing fair and making sure the rules are followed.
• Prioritizing safety so everyone leaves the field smiling and ready to learn.

Way to go, 5th grade! Thank you for setting such a fantastic example of teamwork, inclusion, and fun for the entire school. Keep it up! 🌟🙌

If voters approve the 2026 bond referendum, we would begin a multi-year process of planning, construction, and renovations. Projects would be completed in phases. We would anticipate the new high school to open in the fall of 2030. The move to elementary neighborhood schools would be in the fall of 2029. A final phasing plan will be developed with input from multiple design teams that include staff, students, parents, and community partners. Learn more at: https://rdale.referendumfacts.org
