🔥🚒 SPACE HEATER SAFETY | TRIMBLE VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT 🚒🔥
As temperatures drop, space heaters can help keep us warm — but if used improperly, they can create a serious fire hazard. A few simple precautions can help protect your home, family, and loved ones!
🏠 SPACE HEATER SAFETY TIPS:
✅ Keep 3 feet of clearance between your space heater and anything that can burn, including furniture, curtains, blankets, and clothing.
🔌 Plug directly into a wall outlet. Never use an extension cord or power strip with a space heater.
🛑 Turn it off when you leave or go to sleep. Never leave a space heater running unattended.
🐶 Protect children and pets. Keep them a safe distance away from hot surfaces and heaters.
🔍 Check for damage. Never use a heater with frayed cords, damaged plugs, or other visible defects.
🛡️ Choose safety features. Use a heater with automatic tip-over protection and overheat shut-off, and follow the manufacturer’s instructions.
🚒 REMEMBER: Space heaters are a leading cause of home heating fires. Taking a few extra seconds to use yours safely can help prevent a tragedy.
