Yesterday, CHP West Los Angeles Area officers responded to a fire on the Interstate 10 eastbound transition to La Cienega Boulevard southbound.

Fires can develop quickly and pose a serious risk to motorists and nearby communities. If you encounter a fire while driving, remain alert, maintain a safe distance, and follow directions from emergency personnel. Never stop in an unsafe location to observe or record the incident, and report any fire or immediate hazard to 911.

Let’s all do our part to keep our roadways and communities safe.

Out on the road and ready to assist! 🏍️

Lieutenant Beard and Motor Officer Sepulveda were out on patrol when they assisted a neighboring CHP Area with a disabled vehicle on the freeway.

After recently completing Motor School, Lieutenant Beard is now putting those skills to work. Today’s patrol was a great example of our commitment to teamwork, assisting our neighboring Areas, and keeping motorists moving safely.

Whether it’s traffic enforcement, roadway assistance, or helping a fellow Area, our officers are always ready to answer the call.

On August 29, 2026, at approximately 2344 hours, Officer Borquez and Officer Esparza were traveling southbound on Interstate 405 when they observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed, unable to maintain a single lane of traffic, with its taillights blacked out.

The officers conducted an enforcement stop and determined the driver was 17 years old and unlicensed. During the contact, Officer Borquez observed signs and symptoms of alcohol impairment and subsequently conducted a DUI investigation. The investigation resulted in the driver being arrested for DUI.

Remember: Impaired driving can have life changing consequences. Make the responsible choice. Drive Sober.

🚨 DUI Checkpoint Announcement 🚨

The California Highway Patrol West Los Angeles Area will conduct a DUI checkpoint on Saturday, August 8, 2026, in the unincorporated area of Los Angeles County.

The checkpoint will operate from approximately 7:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. as part of our ongoing commitment to keeping our roads safe by deterring impaired driving.

Drivers approaching the checkpoint will see advance warning signs and may be briefly stopped while officers explain the purpose of the checkpoint. CHP officers conducting the operation are specially trained to detect alcohol and drug impaired drivers and will utilize handheld breath testing devices when appropriate.

Remember: Drive sober, plan ahead, and help keep our roads safe for everyone.

Law enforcement knows no borders. 🇺🇸🤝🇩🇪

Today, we had the pleasure of welcoming two state police officers from Germany, Philipp and Helena, who stopped by to take a photo with one of our patrol vehicles.

What started as a quick photo turned into a great opportunity to exchange department patches, share stories, and discuss the similarities and unique experiences of policing on opposite sides of the world.
