We are the Cumberland Volunteer Fire Department, founded in 1955 and incorporated in 1957. We protect and serve the town of Cumberland and the surrounding areas, in the heart of Cumberland County, Virginia. We operate six units out of our six bay fire station on Old Buckingham Road (Rt. 13), a mile east of Cumberland Court House. We respond to all types of calls, from house fires to vehicle accidents, technical rescue, natural disasters, to assisting the local rescue squads and providing mutual aide to surrounding counties, we handle it all. We also have a Junior Firefighter program that allows 16 and 17 year olds to join the ranks and volunteer or start them on a pathway to a life long career in public service!
