Ever wonder what goes on in the giraffe barn when you’re not visiting The Wilds?

Some days, it’s activities like this – hanging enrichment puzzles for our herd! By using hanging enrichment like you see here, the giraffe in our care are able to mimic their natural foraging behaviors, and it keeps them mentally and physically active throughout the day. It also helps slow down eating for our herd, forcing them to use their 18-inch tongues and work for their food!

Starting in November, you can see (and feed) our giraffes inside their cozy, warm (super tall) barn when you book a Winter Wildside Tour! Plan your next month’s trip by visiting https://www.thewilds.org/winter-wildside-tour.

On Friday, October 9, 2026, we celebrated our annual fundraising event, Fall Safari, with so many of The Wilds’ biggest supporters, and as we reflect on an incredible night of celebration, generosity, and conservation, we are filled with gratitude.

To everyone who attended, made a gift, raised a paddle, bid in the auction, volunteered, sponsored the event, or supported us from afar, thank you. Your commitment to The Wilds helps make our work possible every day. Thanks to your generosity, critical resources and equipment will help advance animal health and wellbeing, strengthen conservation efforts, and ensure The Wilds remains a place where wildlife and people can thrive together for generations to come.

To our guests, donors, sponsors, volunteers, staff, and community partners: thank you for making Fall Safari such a special and impactful evening. The difference you make extends far beyond a single night, creating lasting impact for wildlife here and around the world.

We are wildly thankful for your support and look forward to seeing you at Fall Safari next year.
