Help us provide aid to displaced families affected by the South Georgia fires through our disaster relief drive! Now thru May 10, we’re collecting non-perishable items at all Forsyth County Fire Stations and the Public Safety Complex (3520 Settingdown Road). Once we collect it all, local organizations we’ve partnered with will deliver the items to points of contact in South Georgia for distribution.

Let’s band together for our neighbors in the south!

Acceptable items include:
- Shelf-stable, non-perishable food items
- Toiletries
- House items
- Baby items
- Pet items
- Socks, underwear, blankets
- Smoke related relief (N95/KN95 masks, Saline nasal spray, etc)

Find the full list of accepted items and more info here:https://www.forsythco.com/News/fire-department-hosts-disaster-relief-drive-for-families-displaced-by-south-georgia-fires

EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY: We have moved up the county-wide, seasonal burn ban (usually starting May 1) due to extremely dry weather conditions and an extended time without meaningful rainfall. Outdoor burning will not be allowed again until October 1, weather permitting.

Outdoor burning causes serious and significant risk to the public during drought and near-drought conditions. Any outdoor recreational fires (such as backyard fire pits, campfires, cooking fires and campground grills) are strongly discouraged. While technically legal during a burn ban, Forsyth County Fire Department officials are asking residents refrain from any and all recreational fires until weather conditions improve and our area has experienced significant and prolonged rainfall.

🚨 PSA: Dry Weather = Fire Risk 🚨
We know the burn ban is not in effect yet but with the recent dry conditions, even a small spark can quickly turn into a dangerous fire. If you smoke, please be extra careful:
🔥 Always fully extinguish cigarette butts
🔥 Never toss them on the ground or out of your car
🔥 Use proper ashtrays or containers
🔥 Double-check they’re completely out before disposing
It only takes one careless moment to start an outdoor fire. Let’s all do our part to keep our community safe.
