SCAM NOTICE regarding Traffic Tickets Text
A text message is making the rounds warning individuals of an “outstanding traffic ticket” that if not paid by an upcoming date your vehicle registration and driving privileges will be suspended. This is another SCAM. Please contact us if you have a question about an outstanding traffic fine.
There are several errors that prove the message is a scam. The most obvious:
1) There is no Georgia State Administrative Code 15C-16.003 that pertains to traffic fines.
2) Drivers’ licenses in Georgia are handled by DDS (Department of Driver Services) not a DMV.
3) There is no such thing as “transfer to a toll booth and charge a 35% service fee”. There are no longer any toll booths in Georgia.
Any questions regarding traffic citations can be directed to the Clerk of Court’s office, www.forsythclerk.com . With the exceptions of Super Speeder fines levied by DDS and City of Cu***ng Municipal Court tickets, all payments for traffic citations in Forsyth County are made with the Forsyth County Clerk of Court’s office. There is no other collecting office for traffic fines.
