MAHAFFEY, PA — Mature Resources Area Agency on Aging is pleased to announce an open house at its Mahaffey Center for Active Living following the completion of $25,000 in remodeling improvements designed to enhance the center for the older adults it serves and the community at large.

The remodeling project represents an important investment in the center, helping provide a welcoming, comfortable, and inviting environment where older adults can gather, socialize, participate in activities, and remain active and connected to their community.

Mature Resources Area Agency on Aging extends its sincere appreciation to State Representative Mike Armanini for his instrumental role in securing the $25,000 in funding that made these improvements possible. His support demonstrates a commitment to strengthening community resources and enhancing the quality of life for older adults throughout the region.

“We are incredibly grateful to Representative Mike Armanini for his support and dedication to our older adult population,” said Kathy Gillespie, CEO of Mature Resources Area Agency on Aging. “This funding has allowed us to make meaningful improvements to the Mahaffey Center for Active Living. Our centers play an important role in reducing social isolation, promoting wellness, and providing opportunities for older adults to build friendships and remain engaged in their communities.”

9 in 10 Americans want a simple test for Alzheimer's—Congress can pave the way
Just as with cancer and heart disease, treating Alzheimer's earlier leads to significantly better outcomes.

Fortunately, new FDA-cleared blood tests can now identify the disease in its earliest stages, allowing patients to access new treatments at the point when they can be most effective. This is exactly what Americans want. More than 9 in 10 Americans say they would take a simple test for Alzheimer’s.

Under current law, Medicare cannot cover any dementia screening test for people without symptoms—a legal barrier only Congress can fix. Unlike similar tests for many other diseases, until Congress acts, Medicare can't pay for these tests.

The bipartisan ASAP Act clears the roadblock.

Congress can take this common‑sense step so people can benefit from treatment when it matters most. This is our moment to make early detection the new standard of care.

Help amplify the message and ask your members of Congress to cosponsor and advance the ASAP Act.
