Training at the Fire Academy - Railroad Emergencies

On Tuesday night our firefighters participated in hands-on training at the Suffolk County Fire Academy focused on Long Island Rail Road emergencies.

Firefighters had the opportunity to enter a full-size train at the academy's mock station and practice responding to various emergency scenarios.

Everyone gained valuable experience learning about train layouts, access points, and the unique challenges that come with incidents involving the Long Island Railroad trains that run through our district.

Over 20 CFD firefighters participated in the training session.

The Cutchogue Fire Department like many other fire departments in Suffolk County, routinely travels to the Fire academy several times over the course of the year in order to participate in different training evolutions.

Tuesday marked the 5th of different 6 times that CFD will travel to Yaphank this year for live fire and hands -on training.

The Officers and Members of the Cutchogue Fire Department would like to thank the instructors and entire academy staff and MTA for giving us the skills and knowledge to help us protect our community.

Thank you for an awesome night of training.

A Day of Remembrance - September 11th 2001 - 25 years Later - Never Forget

Twenty-five years have past since the tragic events of September 11, 2001, a day that shall never be forgotten and has forever changed our nation.

Please take time to remember all of the heroes who made the supreme sacrifice and the innocent civilians who lost their lives on this horrific day.

Our thoughts and prayers will always remain with our fallen FDNY brothers and all of the families that lost loved ones that day.

Thank you to those who continue to fight for and protect the freedoms that make every one of us proud to be Americans.

Members of the community are invited to visit the Southold Town September 11th & Firefighters Memorial located at Cochran Park in Peconic for remembrance services.

At 6:00 p.m. this evening, a special ceremony sponsored by the Southold Town Fire Chiefs Council will take place and will include the Southold Town Fire Departments.

Local Fire Departments will join together to pay their respects as a group during the ceremony.

A Night on the Water with the CFD Juniors

On Wednesday evening during the CFD Juniors monthly meeting and training, participants had the opportunity to become familiar with Fire/Rescue boat 8-5-10.

Our boat, a 28 foot Fire-Rescue boat is docked in New Suffolk during the boating season and stands ready to respond to emergencies in the Peconic Bay.

The Juniors received an overview of the boat, including its electronics and safety equipment.

The crew also learned about the different personal protective equipment used on the boat and took part in discussions with Water Rescue Captain Tom Robbins about navigation, boat operations, and search and rescue.

The boat went underway, and the Juniors were brought out into the Bay, where they practiced using the boat’s handlines and deck gun powered by the onboard fire pump.

The CFD Juniors program is open to young residents of Cutchogue between the ages of 11 and 17.

This dynamic and interactive program introduces the youth of our community to the many aspects the Fire and EMS service with the hope that someday these youths will continue onward to become the future Volunteers serving our community.

The group meets on the 2nd Wednesday night of each month. at the Cutchogue Firehouse.

For more information, email us at [email protected].

Thank you to Water Rescue Captain Tom Robbins taking the time to share your knowledge with our juniors.

🎒🚌 Back to School means more traffic, more pedestrians, and more school buses on the road!

As students head back to the classroom, Suffolk County Fire Rescue and Emergency Services reminds drivers to slow down, stay alert, and share the road safely.

đźš— Slow down in school zones and watch for pedestrians.
🚌 Stop for school buses when their stop signs and red lights are activated.
🚶 Look both ways and use crosswalks when crossing the street.
⏰ Prepare for extra traffic and give yourself more time for your commute.

A few extra seconds of caution can make a big difference in keeping our children, families, and communities safe. ❤️

Let’s make this a safe and successful school year for everyone! 📚👩‍🚒

2026 Chicken Barbecue - Another look

Once again the Cutchogue Fire Department would like to thank the community for the support of our 69th Annual Chicken Barbecue.

An event of this magnitude is not possible without the support not only from the community, but our entire membership, the CFD Ladies Aux., our families, friends and the many community volunteers and groups that helped throughout the week and on Saturday.

Thank you for making this event become a end of summer North Fork Tradition for nearly 70 years.

Here are some additional pictures of just some of the many faces of those who helped to make the event possible.

We hope to see you again next year.

Many thanks,
The Officers and Members of the CFD

"Back Home"- 69th Annual Chicken Barbecue - Thank You from CFD! - Over 3200 Served

On Saturday August 22nd the United Fire Company #1 and the Cutchogue Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary hosted their 69th Annual Chicken Barbecue.

This annual event has grown since it's beginning to serve over 3200 people each year.

Considered "Long Island's Largest Chicken Barbecue" the event takes place each year on the fourth Saturday in August, and for many families, this event has officially marked the end of the summer on the North Fork.

With the early morning clouds clearing and temperatures in the near 70's the stage was set for another successful event.

because of our new firehouse construction, the event was held off-site at Peconic Bay Vineyards in Cutchogue for the past 2 years,

This year we were happy to be "Back Home" hosting the event once again on the fire district grounds across from our new firehouse.

This year's barbecue was hopefully better than ever. The Cutchogue Fire Department was pleased to serve well over three thousand two hundred smiling faces in person during the night under the "Big Tent" and in take-out.
,
CFD members began their day at 8 o'clock in the morning finalizing preparations for the barbecue.

Volunteers over the course of the morning began husking over 7000 ears of corn, preparing over 1000 pounds of potato salad, sliced peaches, and cucumbers for the homemade salads, prepared by the CFD Auxiliary.

Shortly after 12 o'clock the fires were lit to cook the over 3500 halves of chicken needed to serve the hungry barbecue goers. Throughout the afternoon the smell of BBQ chicken and smoke filled the air around Cutchogue.

At 3:30 p.m., chickens were served as the sold out crowd lined up to be seated under the tent. This would continue until the last ticket holder was seated at nearly 9:00 pm.

In what has now become a CFD tradition, the CFD Marching Band entered the tent for a special performance to close out the night to the delight of everyone attending.

The Officers and Members of the Cutchogue Fire Department and the CFD Ladies Auxiliary would like to thank our membership, the many volunteers, CFD Junior Firefighters, CFD family members, local businesses and members of the community for their continued support of this annual fundraising event.

Thank you to chairman Richard Jernick III, his committee, and all of the CFD members for your hard work leading up to and throughout the week to make this 69th Annual Chicken Barbecue a huge success.

Thank you to Stony Brook Eastern Long Island Hospital for once again being the corporate sponsor of this years event, as well as all of our other banner sponsors and raffle supporters. Your continued support is greatly appreciated.

Thank you to the Mattituck Fire Department & Southold Fire Department who stood by providing Fire and EMS coverage during the event, as well as the Southold Town Police Department & NY State Police, who assisted with traffic control and keeping us all safe.

Other organizations that assisted us with logistical help and donated equipment include:

Braun Seafood Company
A.W. Glover Trucking
Coastline Cesspool & Drain
Suffolk County Fire Rescue and Emergency Services
Southold Town Highway Dept.

Thank you to the many community volunteers who helped by working the event. Some of our community volunteers this year included Cadets from the Southold Mattituck -Greenport NJROTC Unit and Kait's Angels.

We are truly grateful for the help and support from everyone.

Please check back, more pictures will be posted as they become available.

It great to have the community celebrate this great summer event with us.
