March 3, 2026 Mary Ann Jackson was elected as the Harris County Republican Precinct Chair for 0828. My husband and I have lived in Precinct 828 since 1998.

My name is Mary Ann Jackson, I volunteered to serve as the 828 HCRP Precinct Chairman since September 2025 after Steve Sands resigned. In December 2025 I was approved as a precinct chair candidate for 828 and was the only candidate who applied. From August of 2023-August 2025, I served as a Precinct Lead for HCRP. When my now 21 year old son was turning 4 I put him into nursery at a school, where he stayed until 8 years old.. He then went to a steiner school as i started to see the crack in the mainsteam school system.. If I knew then what i know now.... hindsight huh?

I have kept my second son with me, every day, for 8 years.
As a solo mama. In Costa Rica. With no help at all.

There were days I thought I couldn’t. Days when I was exhausted and broke and questioning everything.

But I had read the science.
I knew that 40% of toddlers in daycare have persistently elevated cortisol levels- chronic stress in their developing bodies.

I knew that the early years are when the brain, the immune system, and the attachment patterns of a lifetime are being formed.

So I made a different choice - and I built the life that allowed me to make it.
I learned to write. I built an online business. I created products that genuinely helped people. I made it work - because I had to.

If you are reading this and feeling the pang of I want this too - please hear me, mama:

This is not a post to make any mama feel guilty. We have all done what we knew at the time.

But if your soul is asking for another way - there is one.
I have walked it. Many of us are walking it.
And I now teach the path inside The Barefoot Club — for mamas who want to keep their babies close while building real, soulful income from home.

I regret every day I worked and had someone else watching my babies. I quit work when my oldest was 2.5 years old and youngest was 11 months for a few years. I stayed home full time with both of them until the youngest began second grade. I worked 9 months a year and was off in the summers. When our oldest began high school at 14, I quit working for good🥰! That was the best decision ever!

Water usage concerns are driving Comal County commissioners to push for changes in how data centers are approved and regulated.

Commissioners approved a resolution asking state legislators to review sales tax exemptions for data centers and require full public reporting of water consumption before final approvals, especially in areas with groundwater challenges.

Find details on the resolution and what it could mean for future developments in the link in the comments. 🔗
