Student testimony: I lost my son over 16 years ago, my dad 9 years ago, and my mother and husband 2 years ago. My mom and husband died seven months apart.
Through each loss, I heard so many well-intended but unhelpful sayings. I also received deep wounds from people I thought were close friends. These experiences left me
angry and in tears, and I often withdrew into isolation. After I suddenly lost my dear
husband, within the first month, I heard comments such as:
 Do you plan on getting married again?
 You should celebrate that he’s in heaven.
 Can you fix my grandson’s car?
 Can you give me just this or that?
 His mission is done.
 You’re spiritually stuck.
These misunderstandings about loss and grief—especially within the body of believers—led me to become a loss and grief counselor.
The Spirit led me to the National Association of Christian Counselors. The certification course was led by Dr. Kirk, and the atmosphere felt as though the glory of God was hovering over us. It was a place where everyone felt heard and seen. Dr. Kirk’s passion and compassion for others were evident in every session. As I learned how to correctly counsel and comfort those who are grieving, I also received comfort and healing along the way.
I’m truly grateful for this training, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone.

The Effective Grief Counseling is the best book I've ever read for training leaders in grief counseling in my forty years of pastoring and grief ministry. I am a teacher by profession, and acquiring counseling skills has significantly enhanced my ability to serve and coach families with special needs. I’m combining my background in education with my ongoing studies so I can be the very best for the people God has called me to support.

The Christian Mental Health course has been a tremendous blessing. It directly informed my Board-Certified Cognitive Specialist training and helped shape the way I approach treatment plans. In my work with parents and children, I conduct assessments, develop IEPs, and create treatment plans, so the tools I’ve gained from NACC and the seminary have been invaluable.

God is using your programs to equip me to help His people. This is why I aspire to pursue my doctorate in Christian Counseling. Together with my Board-Certified Cognitive Specialist credential, the doctorate will position me exactly where I need to be. I am currently completing my master’s degree thesis at UPEACE, the United Nations-mandated University, where I am earning a Master’s in Peace Studies.
