The Official page of Morris County Sheriff Jack Martin. The Morris County Sheriff's Office is located at 502 Union Street, Daingerfield, Texas.

The Morris County Sheriff's Office serves the Cities of Daingerfield, Lone Star, Naples, and Omaha, Texas, as well as all unincorporated areas with the County. The Sheriff's Office, under the direction of Sheriff Jack Martin, provides Law Enforcement Patrol and Criminal Investigation services to Morris County, as well as providing a School Resource Officer to the Paul Pewitt Consolidated Independent School District and Bailiff's to Justice of the Peace, County, and District Courts. The Sheriff's Office also provides Emergency Dispatch services to all Public Safety agencies and entities within Morris County, as well as State and Federal agencies. The Sheriff's Office includes the Morris County Jail, which houses and cares for all inmates incarcerated with Morris County, Texas, and, occasionally provides inmate labor for certain non-profit endeavors. As Halloween approaches, the Morris County Sheriff’s Office encourages parents and guardians to take a few extra precautions to help keep our children safe while trick-or-treating.

Under Chapter 62 of the Texas Code of Criminal Procedure, certain information regarding registered s*x offenders, including residential addresses, is available to the public.

We encourage families to visit the Texas Public S*x Offender Registry to review registered addresses in their neighborhoods before planning their trick-or-treating routes.

Sheriff Jack Martin hosted a School Safety Meeting today, welcoming representatives from local law enforcement agencies, fire departments, Paul Pewitt CISD, and Daingerfield-Lone Star ISD.

These meetings serve as an important opportunity to strengthen relationships between our schools and emergency responders, exchange valuable information, and ensure our agencies remain proactive in preparing for potential emergencies.

We were honored to have Texas DPS Chief Jeremy Sherrod as our speaker. We greatly appreciate him taking the time to share his experience, knowledge, and insight with everyone in attendance.

Sheriff Martin and the Morris County Sheriff’s Office would also like to thank all participating agencies and school representatives for making school safety a priority. Having our first responders and educators at the same table is an important part of building a safer environment for our students and staff.

Preparation, communication, and strong partnerships are essential when it comes to protecting our schools. 💙

🚔 S*X OFFENDER COMPLIANCE OPERATION 🚔

On August 25, 2026, the Morris County Sheriff’s Office, with assistance from the Texas Department of Public Safety, U.S. Marshals Service, TPW Game Wardens and Homeland Security, conducted a countywide s*x offender compliance operation.

During the operation, law enforcement officers traveled throughout Morris County to verify registered offenders’ residences, employment information and other required registration information.

As a result of these efforts:

🔹 Three arrests were made
🔹 Approximately six cases involving possible noncompliance were identified and will require further investigation

S*x offender registration requirements are in place to help protect the public and provide law enforcement with accurate, current information. Compliance checks are an important part of ensuring registered offenders are following those requirements and are residing where they have reported.

The Morris County Sheriff’s Office would like to extend our sincere appreciation to the Texas Department of Public Safety, U.S. Marshals Service, TPW Game Wardens and Homeland Security for dedicating their personnel, time and resources to this operation.

Operations like this demonstrate the importance of cooperation between local, state and federal law enforcement agencies. The Morris County Sheriff’s Office remains committed to actively monitoring compliance, investigating possible violations and working with our law enforcement partners to help keep the citizens of Morris County safe.

Any potential violations identified during this operation remain under investigation, and additional charges may be filed as those investigations continue.

Big things are coming to Morris County! 🚔

Thanks to a grant awarded by Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC) Railroad and the hard work of Sgt. Kellie Hooper, the Morris County Sheriff’s Office will soon be adding new aerial technology to support law enforcement operations.

This enhancement will improve our ability to respond to emergencies, assist with search efforts, document scenes, and better protect the citizens of Morris County.

We sincerely appreciate Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC) Railroad’s commitment to public safety and Sgt. Hooper’s dedication to bringing valuable resources to our agency. Opportunities like this help us continue providing the highest level of service to the citizens of Morris County while minimizing costs to local taxpayers.

Morris County Sheriff’s Office Secures State Grant Funding

Last week, Public Information Officer Mariah Guest attended the 2026 Motor Vehicle Crime Prevention Authority (MVCPA) Conference, where she presented on behalf of the Morris County Sheriff’s Office in support of a competitive grant application.

We are proud to announce that the Morris County Sheriff’s Office was awarded funding through the Motor Vehicle Crime Prevention Authority.

This state grant funding will help strengthen our agency’s public safety resources while reducing the financial burden on local taxpayers through competitive grant opportunities.

The Morris County Sheriff’s Office extends our sincere appreciation to the Motor Vehicle Crime Prevention Authority for their continued investment in law enforcement agencies across Texas and their commitment to supporting public safety.

We also thank everyone involved in the grant application process and appreciate the opportunity to represent Morris County at this year’s conference.

The Morris County Sheriff’s Office has received reports of scam phone calls & text messages from individuals falsely claiming to be deputies or employees of our agency.

These callers may attempt to pressure you into sending money for things such as:
• Outstanding warrants
• Missed jury duty
• Court fines or fees
• Bail or inmate release
• S*x offender registration matters
• Other alleged legal issues

🚨 PLEASE REMEMBER:

The Morris County Sheriff’s Office will NEVER call and demand immediate payment over the phone. We will never instruct you to pay using:
• Gift cards
• Cash App
• Venmo
• Apple Pay
• Cryptocurrency
• Wire transfers
• Or ask for sensitive financial information over the phone.

Scammers can “spoof” phone numbers, making it appear the call is coming from the Morris County Sheriff’s Office or another legitimate government agency. Do not rely solely on caller ID.

If you receive a suspicious call:
• Do not send money.
• Do not provide personal or financial information.
• Hang up immediately.
• Contact the Morris County Sheriff’s Office directly using our official phone number 903-645-2232 to verify the information.

Please help us spread the word by sharing this post. A quick share could prevent someone from becoming the next victim of a scam. Stay alert and stay safe.

This morning June 22, 2026 two Morris County Jailers were assaulted by an inmate while preparing the inmate for transport to court.

Both employees were transported to a local hospital for evaluation and treatment and were later released with superficial injuries.

We are thankful that their injuries were not more serious and are proud of the professionalism displayed by our staff during this incident.

The Morris County Sheriff’s Office would also like to thank the Daingerfield Police Department and LifeNet EMS for their quick response and assistance.

The inmate remains in custody, and the incident is under investigation. Additional charges will be pursued as appropriate.

Please keep our injured employees and all law enforcement and corrections personnel in your thoughts and prayers as they continue serving our community each day.

Today, the Morris County Sheriff’s Office had the opportunity to participate in a job fair and mock interview event at Paul Pewitt High School!

Our staff enjoyed speaking with students about careers in law enforcement, dispatch, corrections, and public service while also helping them practice interview skills and prepare for their future careers.

We appreciate the opportunity to invest in the next generation and encourage young adults to explore careers that make a difference in their communities. Thank you to Paul Pewitt CISD for having us!
