🌳 GOT HAMMOCKS? WE GOT THE TREES! 🌳

⭐️ Texas State Park Hammock Rules:

1️⃣ Tree must be at least 8 inches in diameter
2️⃣ Straps must be at least 2” wide (rope and cord prohibited). Using padding underneath strap will also help protect the trees’ bark.
3️⃣ No more than 2 straps per tree (yes, we will talk to these folk 🙂)
4️⃣ Do not prune or cut plants to make way for hammocks.
5️⃣ Hang hammocks for overnight camping within the bounds of the assigned campsite.
6️⃣ Hammocks may not be attached to park structures such as shade shelters, lantern posts, or buildings unless specifically authorized.
7️⃣ No permanent anchors.
8️⃣ Some state parks have stricter rules so always verify rules with the staff before setting up your hammock.

📝 Fine print: Shade depends on the sun. Relaxation is up to you. Park not responsible if a bird poops on you.

🍁 Welcome to Fall Fridays! 🍁

📸 Every Friday, we will post a picture(s) of the fall colors around the park so you know what time is best to come see them!

🍂 How vibrant the fall colors and how many we see depends on the weather patterns from spring, summer, and early autumn!

🤔 Here’s what a “Perfect Year” would look like:

1️⃣ A wet spring & summer keeping trees healthy and preventing leaves dropping early.
2️⃣ Sunny autumn days to help maximize photosynthesis and sugars.
3️⃣ Cool autumn nights (32-45F) to squeeze leaf veins and trap sugars inside.

🚨 HUGE MIGRATION TONIGHT! 🚨

🤯 ~600 million birds predicted tonight!

💡 Make sure to turn those lights OFF from 10p-6a to help these birds on their journey south!

🐦 Watch out for more birds (maybe rare) in your yard tomorrow morning!

🎣 Catch-and-Release fishing tips!

🐟 Here a few key tips to remember while being an ethical catch-and-release angler!

1️⃣ Land quick using a net to reduce the amount of time out of the water.
2️⃣ Use barbless hooks for easy removal and less damage to the fish.
3️⃣ Hold fish with 2 hands especially if the the fish is 5lbs or more.
4️⃣ Release gently without tossing and never keep a fish out of the water longer than you can hold your breath.
5️⃣ Follow rules and regulations and check each lake for exceptions to rules. Daingerfield State Park follow “Community Fishing Lake” regulations.
6️⃣ Leave No Trace of your visit and dispose of fishing line and trash properly.

🍀 Good luck out there!
