It is with heavy hearts that the members of Carter Fire District mourn the tragic loss of our brother, firefighter Dakota Campbell.

For nearly three years, Dakota served our department with willingness, dedication, and a servant's heart. He quickly became more than a volunteer firefighter- he became family. His friendship, commitment, and readiness to answer the call will never be forgotten, and his absence will be deeply felt by every member of our department.

Out thoughts and prayers are with Dakota's young son, Holden, his family, friends, and everyone whose lives he touched during this incredibly difficult time.

Dakota, thank you for your service, your friendship, and your sacrifice. We will honor your memory by continuing to serve our community with the same dedication you showed every day.

Rest easy, brother. 🖤🚒

🚒 Training Day at Carter Fire District

Today’s training focused on search and rescue in heavy smoke conditions and forcible entry.

Crews worked through low-visibility scenarios, team communication, maintaining orientation in zero-visibility environments, and gaining access during simulated rescue situations. Strong work by everyone who came out and put in the time today. Training like this ensures we’re ready when it matters most.

Proud night for our department!

Tonight our members completed fit testing for our brand-new SCBA masks and air packs supplied through MaQueen Emergency, featuring new 4500 PSI packs from MSA Safety. This upgrade was made possible after Carter Fire District was awarded $229,698 through Federal Emergency Management Agency funding, allowing us to officially retire our 20+ year-old air packs.

New equipment means safer firefighters and that means a safer community. We’re incredibly grateful for this support and excited to put this life-saving equipment into service!
