For the past two legislative sessions, Republicans have repeatedly used the LGBTQ+ community, particularly our transgender neighbors, to mobilize their political base through fear and misinformation.

These fraudulent mailers sent to Texas parents, implicating Transgender Education Network of Texas (TENT), are another example of using the LGBTQ+ community as a political weapon rather than addressing the issues that matter to Texas families - the economy, feeding Texan families, increasing access to healthcare, and funding our public schools.

Deception is their strategy to try and win your vote. As we continue with early voting and approach the Nov. 3 election, please triple-check the information that you are exposed to and use as a resource to support your candidate research.

FIGHT DECEPTION. MAKE EDUCATED VOTES.

The deadline to apply to vote by mail is TOMORROW, Friday, October 23!

If you plan to vote by mail in the November 3 election, your Application for Ballot by Mail (ABBM) must be **received by the deadline—not just postmarked by October 23.**

In Texas, voting by mail is available to eligible voters who are 65 or older, have a disability or qualifying illness, expect to give birth near Election Day, will be out of their county during the voting period, or are confined in jail but otherwise eligible.

Check the requirements and get your application at www.DallasCountyVotes.org.

My commitment to public health didn’t start when I was elected, and it hasn’t stopped since.

For more than two decades, I’ve worked to protect the health of our communities and expand access to the care people need. That work continues in the Texas House, where I serve on the House Committee on Appropriations and its Article II Subcommittee, helping oversee $94 billion in funding for Texas Health and Human Services.

I’ve seen how much access to affordable care matters to families. That’s why I led the successful effort to protect healthcare coverage for more than 200,000 Dallas County residents enrolled in the Parkland Community Health Plan.

There’s still more work to do. I’ll continue fighting to expand access to affordable healthcare and protect the health of our communities, both at the Capitol and at home.

During National Health Education Week, I’m proud to recognize the work of the Society for Public Health Education, the organization that established this observance, and everyone working to make health information and resources more accessible to the people who need them.

Do you know what's on your ballot?

Before you head to the polls, take a few minutes to review your sample ballot.

Your sample ballot shows the candidates and races you’ll see when you vote, along with any ballot propositions. It’s a chance to learn which offices are up for election, research the candidates, and think through your choices before you get to the voting booth.

Dallas County voters can find their sample ballot at the Dallas County Elections website: www.DallasCountyVotes.org.

Early voting runs through October 30. The polls are open 7 AM-7 PM Monday-Saturday. This Sunday, the polls are open 12 PM-6 PM.

Make a plan, get informed, and make your voice heard!
