Dallas County Proposition A: What the Property Tax Rate Update Means ‼️

📊 On November 3, Dallas County voters will decide whether to approve the homelessness initiative through the proposed FY2027 VAR-TRE.

🏠 The proposed rate is $0.248650 per $100 of taxable value, compared with the approved FY2027 rate of $0.224650. That would mean an estimated additional $84 per year for a $350,000 taxable value and $96 for $400,000.

💰 The initiative is projected to raise about $102.9 million annually, with $99.61 million budgeted for the program. County oversight, auditing, and some treatment costs are not included in that program budget.

📋 The goal of serving 4,500 households is a projection that depends on housing availability, landlord participation, treatment capacity, and provider performance.

🏙️ Dallas County residents deserve to understand how funds will be allocated, what services will be delivered, and how results will be measured. A transparent plan can help the public assess both the need for expanded services and the responsibility that comes with a substantial tax commitment.
