๐ณ๏ธ BEYOND THE BALLOT | Securing the Vote
How do we make sure election equipment is ready before voters cast their ballots?
This past Monday, October 12, Dallas County Elections conducted public Logic and Accuracy (L&A) Testing of our electronic pollbooks ahead of the November 3rd General and Joint Election.
Under Texas law, election officials are required to conduct L&A testing of both electronic pollbooks and voting systems before voting begins.
- Electronic Pollbooks: Testing verifies that voter registration data is loaded correctly, voters are assigned the proper ballot styles, and connected equipment functions as intended.
- Voting Systems: Separate testing verifies that voting equipment accurately records and tabulates votes using predetermined test ballots and expected results.
- Public Transparency: These testing procedures include public notice requirements and opportunities for public observation.
These are important safeguards that help us identify and address potential issues before Election Day.
