The staff and members of the Board of Directors met one last time to say Goodbye to the organization.

IT IS WITH GREAT SADNESS FOR ME TO ANNOUNCE THE CLOSING OF VMAA ORGANIZATION. (EFFECTIVE JUNE 30, 2019).

VMAA mainly received federal funding to provide various social service programs to refugees who have been resettled in the Dallas and Collin county area. Unfortunately our funding has been cut and unless we can come up with other sources of funding, VMAA office will be closing permanently effective June 30, 2019.

The Vietnamese Mutual Assistance Association of Greater Dallas has been in operation since 1984, when it started working with the Southeast Asian refugees from Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos. As an exective director for VMAA for these past 26 years, it has been a tremendous blessing and a privilege to be able to serve the refugee communities from Afghanistan, Bhutan, Bosnia, Burma, Colombia, Congo,Cuba, El Salvador, Eritrea, Ethiopea, Iraq, Iran, Kurdistan, Pakistan, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, Vietnam and others.

Within these past 26 years VMAA has receivied over $35 million dollars in Federal and State funding to provide programs such as: (1) ESL classes (2) Refugee health care service (3) Refugee Health Screening (4) Citizenship class training (5) After school tutoring (6) Employment and job placement services (7) Job placement service for hard-to-place refugees specifically for Women and Elderly (8) Interpretation/Translation services.

On Saturday, June 15, 2019, at 11:00 AM, the Board of Directors, staff and guests will have a farewell get together at VMAA office currently located at 5510 Abrams Road, Suite 116, Dallas, TX 75214. Anyone wishing to attend this function is welcome.

Thank you and God Bless

How police took $53,000 from a Christian band, an orphanage and a church 04/25/2016

Lets pray for Eh Wah. We here at the Dallas Refugee center knows him and he is not a drug dealer and is telling the truth about raising money for the Burmese orphanage.

How police took $53,000 from a Christian band, an orphanage and a church A Texas man who is a refugee from Burma was carrying the cash in his car when he was stopped by Oklahoma police. They took the money, under a "civil forfeiture" law.
