REMEMBERING MILAN RASTISLAV ŠTEFÁNIK

The Slovak Embassy in Washington, D.C. 🇸🇰 honored the memory of General Milan Rastislav Štefánik, one of the most significant figures in modern Slovak history, on the 107th anniversary of his tragic death.

A diplomat, astronomer, politician, visionary, and one of the founding fathers of Czechoslovakia in 1918, he devoted his life to his homeland, freedom, and international cooperation.

Na slovenskom veľvyslanectve vo Washingtone, D.C. 🇸🇰 sme si dnes pripomenuli 107. výročie úmrtia a uctili si pamiatku jednej z najvýznamnejších osobností moderných slovenských dejín - generála Milana Rastislava Štefánika.

Diplomat, astronóm, politik a vizionár, ktorý svoj život zasvätil službe vlasti, slobode a medzinárodnej spolupráci, sa významne zaslúžil o vznik Československej republiky v roku 1918.

Slovakia was proudly represented by Honorary Consul Martin Valko at the Texas–Europe Business Summit organized by the UniversityofTexas in Austin and the World Affairs Council of Austin where he joined fellow V4 panelists to discuss business and investment opportunities between Central Europe and Texas. The discussion highlighted the region’s shared strengths and the growing partnerships across innovation, energy, and industry.

Slovakia will be represented at the Texas–Europe Business Summit at the University of Texas at Austin, where Honorary Consul Martin Valko will speak on the panel “Innovation, Energy & Talent Bridges from Central Europe to Texas,” focused on strengthening transatlantic collaboration across technology, energy, and talent mobility. He will highlight Slovakia’s strengths in high-skilled manufacturing, the energy transition, and the expansion of Slovak–American partnerships, particularly in EV, defense, and other innovation-driven sectors. 🇸🇰🤝🇺🇸

Ambassador Andrej Droba paid tribute to Eugene A. Cernan—the last man to walk on the Moon—on the 92nd anniversary of his birth this past weekend. Eugene Cernan was a U.S. astronaut 🇺🇸 with proud Slovak 🇸🇰 roots.
