5th grade completed their first round of Shake N’ Bake today. This is our way of introducing elective classes. Each teacher hosts a class and teaches a skill or activity over 4-6 weeks. Students rotate across all classes throughout the school year. Here is Ms. Cross’ groups last day after learning some good ole fashion line dancing!

Students were given their school pictures today from our picture day earlier this school year! Please be on the lookout for them in your student's backpack and take a moment to check them out!

📅 Picture Retake Day – Tuesday, October 27th
If your student missed picture day or would like to have their picture retaken, we will have a retake opportunity on Tuesday, October 27th, in the morning ONLY, before 11:00 AM.

Please make sure your student is at school that morning if they plan to participate in retakes.

🐺💙 Celebrating National School Lunch Week! | October 12–16 🍎🥪

Next week, Whitworth Elementary is excited to join schools across Oregon in celebrating National School Lunch Week! This is a wonderful opportunity to recognize the important role school meals play in keeping our students healthy, energized, and ready to learn.

At Whitworth, we are incredibly fortunate to have three amazing ladies who work hard every day to make sure our students are fed and cared for: 👏 Ms. Michelle, Ms. Lisa, and Ms. Jan! 👏

These three do so much more than prepare and serve meals. They help create a welcoming environment where students can enjoy lunch, connect with friends, and recharge for the rest of their school day. With hundreds of hungry 4th and 5th graders coming through the lunch line each day, their work is no small task!

We know that student success takes more than great classroom instruction. Nutritious meals, positive relationships, and a sense of belonging all contribute to helping students be their best. Our kitchen team plays an important part in making that happen every single day.

We encourage our Whitworth families and students to join us in showing appreciation for Ms. Michelle, Ms. Lisa, and Ms. Jan throughout the week! Whether it's a simple thank-you, a kind word, or a smile in the lunch line, let's make sure these ladies know how much they mean to our school.

Whitworth Families,

Today is Custodian's Day, and I want to make sure we take a moment to recognize two people who do an incredible amount for our school every single day—Mr. Gary and Mr. Jake!

Mr. Gary, our daytime Building Engineer and Custodian, is one of those people who seems to be everywhere and able to fix just about anything. Whether he is keeping our building running, cleaning up one of the many surprises that come with an elementary school, or helping staff with whatever random request comes his way, Gary is a huge part of what makes Whitworth work. When he isn't taking care of us, hopefully he's somewhere with a fishing pole in his hand and a fish on the line!

Mr. Jake takes over in the afternoon and evening and quietly keeps Whitworth moving in the right direction after most of us head home. Jake may be the strong, silent type, but don't let that fool you—there's a pretty great (and very witty) sense of humor hiding in there! Between his love of anime, funny movies like Shrek, and the occasional perfectly timed comment, Jake definitely keeps things interesting while doing most of it behind the scenes.

Our custodial team does so much more than clean our school. They take care of our building, take care of our staff, and ultimately help us take care of our students. A lot of what they do happens without anyone noticing—which usually means they're doing their jobs exceptionally well.

Happy Custodians Day, Gary and Jake! We are lucky to have you both as part of our Whitworth family!
