🚒 Cockrell Hill National Night Out 2026! 🚒

This past Friday, the City of Cockrell Hill City Hall held its annual National Night Out! The Cockrell Hill Fire Department was proud to attend, spend time with our community, and give residents an opportunity to meet our firefighters, learn more about the department, and enjoy a great evening together.

During the event, the Cockrell Hill Fire Department was honored to receive a $10,000 State Farm Good Neighbor Firefighter Safety, Grant! This funding will allow our department to purchase new equipment and continue improving our capabilities to better serve and protect our community. A special thank you to the NVFC and our local State Farm agents for coming out and presenting this grant to our department. We greatly appreciate your support and investment in the safety of our firefighters and the Cockrell Hill community!

We are incredibly thankful for the continued support of our community and organizations like State Farm. Thank you to everyone who came out and made this year’s National Night Out a great one! 🚒🔥

🚒 FLEET FRIDAY | ENGINE 1

For this week’s Fleet Friday, we’re highlighting the workhorse of our fleet, Engine 1.

Engine 1 is a 2010 Rosenbauer fire engine, custom-built for the Cockrell Hill Fire Department. It features a top-mount pump configuration, allowing the engineer to operate the pump from an elevated catwalk directly behind the cab with visibility to both sides of the apparatus.

Engine 1 is equipped to handle a wide variety of emergencies, carrying firefighting hose, hand tools, SCBAs, ladders, and other equipment needed for fire suppression, medical emergencies and other emergency response.

As our frontline engine, Engine 1 responds to structure fires, vehicle fires, motor vehicle accidents, medical emergencies, mutual-aid requests, and other calls for service both within Cockrell Hill and alongside our neighboring departments.

At Cockrell Hill Fire Rescue, we take pride in our apparatus. Keeping our trucks maintained, equipped, and ready for service ensures our firefighters have the tools they need when the community calls.

After more than 15 years of service, Engine 1 continues to proudly serve the City of Cockrell Hill.

25 Years Later, We Remember.

Today, we honor the nearly 3,000 lives lost on September 11, 2001, including the 343 firefighters who made the ultimate sacrifice that day.

We remember them, their families, and every FDNY member who continues to carry the scars of that day.

Their courage, service, and sacrifice will never be forgotten.

At approximately 12:17 PM, Cockrell Hill Fire Rescue responded to a reported dumpster fire at the Andrews Apartments. Engine 1 arrived to find a dumpster with active fire and smoke. Crews quickly extinguished the fire, preventing it from spreading to nearby exposures.

🔥 Reminder: Never dispose of hot ashes, charcoal, ci******es, flammable liquids, or other hot/burning materials in dumpsters. Make sure these items are completely cooled and properly disposed of to help prevent fires.
