We had the absolute best time hanging out with the kids at Lida Hooe Elementary for Career Day! ๐๐
Getting to see the excitement on their faces when they look at the gear and seeing how smart they are when it comes to fire safety is one of the best parts of this job.
Every chance we get to visit our local schools and build these relationships with our community's youth is a privilege.
A huge thank you to the teachers and staff at Lida Hooe Elementary for having us out, and to the students for all the great questions. ๐งโ๐โจ

Career Day at L.O. Donald Elementary! ๐๐
We had an incredible time meeting the future leaders and heroes at L.O. Donald Elementary School for Career Day!
The students got a front-row seat to check out our trucks and equipment, but the real highlight was our gear-up challenge. Our firefighters demonstrated just how quickly they have to suit up when a call comes in.
More importantly, the kids got to see what we look like in all our protective gear. We want them to know that under the helmets and masks, weโre just neighbors here to help so theyโll never feel scared if they ever see us in an emergency.
Thank you for having us, L.O. Donald! We loved meeting you all.

Maintaining a fleet isn't just about big repairs, itโs about the discipline of the small details. ๐โจ
Today, Engine 1 got some extra attention with a deep clean of the engine bay. By keeping the heart of our apparatus free of grease, road grime, and debris, we ensure our equipment runs cooler, lasts longer, and stays ready to roll the second a call drops.
Taking pride in the tools we use to serve the community means making sure theyโre in peak condition from the inside out. Great work to our crew for putting in the elbow grease today!

What an incredible day yesterday at Stevie Ray Vaughan Park! ๐ถ
The Annual Blues Concert was a success, and we were so happy to be a part of it. It was a pleasure getting to interact with so many of you, both our local neighbors and those who traveled from outside the community to enjoy the music and the atmosphere.
However, as many of you know, the evening took a serious turn with the weather. Our Emergency Operations Center remained active throughout the night, monitoring conditions closely until the severe weather had completely moved out of our area. While we saw some small hail, we were very fortunate to miss the brunt of the storm.
Our hearts are with the residents of Runaway Bay and the surrounding areas this morning. We are keeping all the families affected by last nightโs tornado in our thoughts as they begin to navigate the aftermath.

Today our team responded to a small fire at a homeless encampment. While the fire was quickly contained, these types of incidents can spread rapidly and pose a serious risk to our neighbors and the surrounding area. Regardless of where the fire started, safety remains our top priority.
โ ๏ธ Reminder: If you see smoke or fire, please call 911 immediately. Early reporting is the best way to prevent a small fire from becoming a community-wide danger.
