City of Dallas Office of Community Police Oversight

The City of Dallas Office of Community Police Oversight (OCPO) would like to thank Ms. Lyons of the Mill City Community Association for welcoming us to their monthly meeting.

It was a great opportunity to share information about the roles of the OCPO and the Community Police Oversight Board (CPOB) in promoting transparency, accountability, and community engagement in public safety.

We were also glad to connect with representatives from Dallas 311, Dallas Police Neighborhood Police Officer (NPO), the District 7 Council Office, Texas State Representative Venton Jones' office, and other community organizations working to serve Dallas residents.

Strong partnerships and open dialogue help build safer, more connected communities. This is what collaboration looks like.

La Oficina de Supervisión Comunitaria de la Policía (OCPO, por sus siglas en inglés) de la Ciudad de Dallas desea agradecer a la Asociación Comunitaria Mill City por recibirnos en su reunión mensual.

Fue una excelente oportunidad para compartir información sobre las funciones de la OCPO y de la Junta de Supervisión Comunitaria de la Policía (CPOB, por sus siglas en inglés) en la promoción de la transparencia, la rendición de cuentas y la participación comunitaria en la seguridad pública.

También nos dio gusto convivir con representantes de Dallas 311, del Oficial de Policía de Vecindario (NPO) del Departamento de Policía de Dallas, de la Oficina del Concejal del Distrito 7, de la oficina del Representante Estatal de Texas Venton Jones y de otras organizaciones comunitarias que trabajan para servir a los residentes de Dallas.

On Saturday, May 9, the City of Dallas Office of Community Police Oversight hosted our Public Safety Response Symposium, bringing together residents and public safety leaders for an important conversation on response times, public safety systems, and City resources.

Thank you to everyone who attended and engaged with us. Special thanks to our presenters, Dallas Police Department Assistant Director Robert Uribe, Major Anthony Greer, Dallas 311 Stephen Walker, Silvio Rodrigues, and Director Kevin Oden, and to our sponsors, the State Fair of Texas and Central Market, for helping make this event possible.

We hope attendees left feeling more informed about the public safety resources available throughout the City of Dallas, and we look forward to hosting more community conversations like this in the future.

🌍✨ On April 23, the Office of Community Police Oversight (OCPO) had the honor of participating in the 11th Battle To Save Lives Global and Public Health Case Competition at SMU.

Our Policy Analyst, Siara Obasuyi, served as a judge and had the opportunity to review powerful and innovative student presentations focused on community de-escalation programs for both youth and adults.

The level of thought, creativity, and passion the students brought made it a very tough decision for the judges to select the winning teams. Their commitment to community-centered solutions was truly inspiring.

🙏 A special thank‑you to Dr. Bing for the invitation, as well as to the other judges, families, and community members who came out to support these future leaders.

💡 We are proud to see young minds working on ideas that strengthen safety, wellness, and community trust.

🌍✨ El 23 de abril, la Oficina de Supervisión Comunitaria de la Policía (OCPO) tuvo el honor de participar en la 11ª Competencia Global de Casos de Salud Pública “Battle to Save Lives” en SMU.

Nuestra Analista de Políticas, Siara Obasuyi, formó parte del panel de jueces, evaluando presentaciones innovadoras de estudiantes enfocados en programas comunitarios de desescalación para jóvenes y adultos.

Las ideas, la creatividad y el compromiso de los equipos hicieron que la decisión fuera realmente difícil. Cada presentación mostró un profundo entendimiento de las necesidades de la comunidad y el impacto que pueden tener las estrategias de prevención y desescalación.

🙏 Gracias a la Dra. Bing por la invitación, así como a los demás jueces, familias y miembros de la comunidad que asistieron y apoyaron a los estudiantes.

💡 Es inspirador ver a la próxima generación de líderes trabajando en soluciones que fortalecen la seguridad y el bienestar de nuestras comunidades.

On April 15, City of Dallas Office of Community Police Oversight Director Andre, Policy Analyst Siara, and Outreach Specialist Alma had the pleasure of attending the Coffee with Cops event at Bonton Wellness Center alongside the DPD Southeast Division ☕🚓

It was a great opportunity to connect with community members, have meaningful conversations, and build relationships in a welcoming space. We also enjoyed meeting and chatting with visiting police officers from Monterrey, México.
